Catching Up…

Well I feel like I’ve been really disconnected over the past few days. It’s kind of crazy how your life can feel likes it’s fallen apart when you don’t have internet. Ok, so my life didn’t fall apart, but I was at a loss of what to do. I guess it got me going to bed a bit earlier. My biggest issue was not being able to blog. I’ve kind of become so accustomed to doing my blog when things prevent me from doing it I feel like I’ve become disconnected. Anyways, internet is back and life is good. I’m going to split this post up for each day. I actually got going on a pretty long post and figured I break it up little, at least for the sake of others.

I have to send out a big thank you to all the great people that have giving me tons of encouragement over the past couple of weeks. It’s so easy for me to start to feel lonely, and start getting down on myself. I’ve gotten some emails from people that have meant a great deal to me. I’m pretty blown away with how God has brought people in my life. I’m also pretty humbled to know that there are people that look up to me. I think sometimes it’s easy for us to get caught up in our own worries and troubles that we lose sight of the real reason God has us where we are. It has nothing to really to do with some self-serving purpose, it has everything to do with the needs of others. I’m realizing, I’m not where I’m at in life purely to find enjoyment in it, I’m here as God’s servant. God’s got a plan for my life that will be in His best interests.

Being A Developer For Life…Can I Keep It Up?

photo credit: LeeroyBy now you’ve probably seen the viral clip of a father getting interrupted by his children while giving a live interview on BBC. Working parents everywhere, especially remote workers, could identify with the humorous embarrassment of the situation. Even those who have had pets interrupt Skype calls know the feeling. You want to… via Hacker News Question: Developers with kids, how do you skill up? — WordPress Tavern I’ve had many discussions with one of my good friends and fellow developers on this very subject. The key is keeping it all in balance and managing the priorities. It is tough sometimes, and I have to realize that I can’t do it all, but I also have to keep in mind that I can accomplish…

What Have I Gotten Myself Into…?

OK, let’s recap the day first. Got up at 5:30 this morning. Had some good time before work. I still really feel getting up at 5:00 would be better, I just can’t get to bed very early, grrr. Work was good today. I feel like I’m finally getting caught up with stuff. Yes! That’ll probably jinks it, LOL. I’m finding that I’m going to have to do some research to find a better system for the free church websites we’re providing. I might have to do something custom, so long as it’s easy to use. Overall a good day. It was nice to have some extra time today before youth praise team practice. The practice went pretty well. Some of the songs are new so…
  • I Need A Backup…Can I Practice

So, as things seemed to go, I didn’t get nearly what I wanted to get done at work today. Most of my time today was spent working out some backup & database issues. The worst of it is I still can’t get the backup software installed on the server. I know this is going to bite me if I don’t get it resolved soon. Interesting thing is my Dad happened to send me an email asking about backup software for their computer. I haven’t gotten a chance to respond, I figure I can talk with him about it this weekend when I’m visiting. It also got me thinking about my own backup procedure, and realized that I haven’t made a backup plan to stick to…

A Verse That Describes The Church In Kathirie Sierra Leone

“They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity.” – 2 Corinthians 8:2 NLT This morning at Daybreak this verse was one that was part of Pastor Wes’ message. As it was being read I instantly began remembering my experience at the Sunday morning service in Kathirie. As I watched the church members give the morning offerings, giving not only to the general offering but also to a building fund and missions, I could only think about the amazing work God was doing in the village.

    Running…My Physical And Spiritual Race

No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. – Philippians 3:13‭-‬14 NLT As I’ve entered into day 3 of my 5K training, more like day 2 but I’m sticking with the schedule, this verse reminds me that there is more beyond just the physical race that I’m preparing for. It’s easy for us to lose sight of how God is working in our lives, especially with how crazy our world is getting. I’m thankful for these reminders and the hope I have in…

    God Confirms It

So I just got done reading my devotional this morning. Wouldn’t you know the subject was exactly part of what I was talking about last night. The “normal” life, or balanced life as the devotional put. Christ’s life, as well as the disciples, was anything but normal or balanced. When it comes to meeting the spiritual needs of others, and doing the things that really count, normality isn’t the way to operate. How refreshing it is to have some good quality time to let God fill me for the day, Amen!
