Wrapping Up The Final Week Of Long Runs
This week starts the taper before the marathon. Didn’t have time to grab my own photo since nature was calling. Hopefully that’s not going to be a problem again for my morning runs. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGuss
Tackling The Fitness Level Test Run
Today was just a short fitness level test run. I was kind of hoping I might hit the 5k mark but I just wasn’t fast enough to get that additional half mile in. I’m curious how #Endomondo is going to adjust my training plan after this run. I really didn’t have much of a quiet time due to the intensity of the run. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus
Praying For Rain And Wells In Sierra Leone
As I felt the light rain coming down as I ran I couldn’t help but think of #SierraLeone and the long drive season they, putting a strain on water supplies. I especially thought of the village of #Ronkorhun and their struggles for water. I continue to pray for the rains needed to grow their crops and restore their water supplies. I also pray that Ronkorhun would see the miracle of a new drilled well in their village sooner than anyone could have expected. #HWI #HessLakeRun #GRMarathon #Run4Water #WhyIRun Donate to Wells in Africa
Completing My 2020 Virtual Grand Rapids Half Marathon

It pretty much felt like any other morning I get up while it’s still dark, and everyone else is asleep, to go for a run. #GRMarathon #Run4Water #HWI This year has been a challenging one for running, and races, that is for sure. Most races were cancelled, postponed, or changed to virtual. My training has been all on my own, and when the pandemic hit I stopped sharing all of my runs on social media. Life wasn’t “business as usual” and I really couldn’t maintain a facade like it was. I did commit to running my 2020 Grand Rapids Half Marathon as a virtual run despite the offer to defer to next year. This morning…
Striving For Better But Not Losing Sight Of The Purpose
When it comes down to it I have a strange definition of “easy run”. The reality of it is that I just have this drive to always do better, to try harder. I know perfectly well that I won’t be winning any races in the foreseeable future, but like in most things I do I know I can always do better. The key piece that I can’t, we all can’t, forget is that doing better doesn’t change how much God loves us. Our worst is no different than our best in God’s eyes. Ultimately, God only cares about where our heart is at, and if we are in a relationship with him. I run not just to get better at running, but because I know…
Almost 7 Mile Post-Christmas Run
I started my run a bit later than usual this morning. Having a some extra time off at Christmas makes for a nice break from the early morning routine. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus Clean Water For Africa: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr
