All That’s Required is to Believe

We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. Romans 3:22 NLT

Too often I see the Church, the religious, or myself attempt to use “the law” as the measure by which someone can be considered a Christian. No matter what we think we know the Bible says Romans 3:22 is pretty clear. The ONLY measure of a Christian is that they believe in Christ as their savior, and put their faith in that truth. As Christ followers are we called to something more, yes! If we fail to follow God’s calling and His plan are we no longer saved, NO. The truth is how we live our lives has little to do with whether we are saved but more to do with our impact for the Kingdom of Heaven and our reward once we are there.

I fail in remembering this often. It’s too easy to see how someone is living, or listen to how they are talking, and think “they must not be a Christian”. The Bible is pretty clear about judgement, and we cannot presume to fully understand someone’s heart. It’s important to remember that every Christ follower’s life is going to look different. Again, this doesn’t mean that living a life that honors God in all we do is not better, but it isn’t the thing that ultimately means whether you are saved or not.

I think we all need to remember that the greatest commandment is to love God and love others.

Feeling Very Out of Shape on My Long Run

After getting through about half of my run in this morning I could tell that the second half was going to be a struggle. Over the past year, even though I haven’t stopped running, my running wasn’t always as consistent and my diet has been all over the map. These two things of course have made a significant impact on my running. I don’t know to what degree all of the craziness that has gone on this past year has been a major instigator of my downfall, but I’m sure it has attributed to it. I need to do better. Maybe that will be my next New Year’s resolution. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun Give the gift of clean water this Christmas: https://timn.me/2020HWI

8.5 Miles, It’s About The Purpose Not The Pace

Will you help make clean water a reality for children in Africa? Give today: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr #HWI Having been a runner for about 4 years now I know how easy it can be to get caught up in times, paces, and having a good race. Being a part of Hope Water is about #WhyIRun which ultimately is about having a platform to share about the great need for clean water around the world, and specifically Africa. This morning as I ran I felt like just putting enjoying the run and focusing on my #Run4Water instead of worrying about how fast, or slow, I was going. I still had a distance as my target, and that was really the only thing I was concerned with. I am…

Bringing Renewed Life And Joy Through Clean Water

    My Beautiful Birthday Girl

On Saturday I had the pleasure to take my very special girl, Vanessa, out for a dinner cruise on Lake Michigan. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset, dinner, and a little dancing. I enjoyed every moment celebrating the day with Vanessa. I don’t know if I can really express how much I care for her. I can honestly say that I don’t think I can imagine a life without her. I’m always in awe at how great God is to have brought us together. A year ago I never would have thought I’d be living in Michigan and have such an amazing woman in my life. Life has been a little out of the ordinary lately. I ran sound again this week for Splash, it was…

Is God Leading Me…Well of Course

Hmm…so as I was just beginning to type this post I’m thinking once again. What is really ok to be sharing and what isn’t. I tend to be almost an open book with my life on here. Is this ok. My ultimate concern is how the people that read it might be effected, especially if it happens that I talk about them in my blog. The truth of the matter is I need to be extra careful about what I say about any, if at all. Talking about people on here is borderline gossip, actually it’s not much different. So now I’m thinking I need to change my writting a bit. What I write needs to be kept about myself for the most part. Obviously…

Final Training Run Before The Groundhog Marathon

Things were a bit off, and out of the normal, this morning. It actually started last night as I discovered that the #Endomondo service was apparently down, which meant I couldn’t load my training plan to see what my last run would be. Then this morning the Endomondo app on my phone wouldn’t even load right. Since my smartwatch came with #Strava built-in, and I’ve been syncing data there, I decided to give it a go on my run. It worked out well enough, except the watch and phone apps don’t talk to each other in real-time which meant I had no audio coaching and no real-time stats, including heart rate, pace, etc. Looking at my final stats I knocked the run out with flying…
