What Has Today Brought?

I’d haveto say that all-in-all it was a decent day. I would have preferred to get a bit farther along in my data-entry, I spent a good portion of the day generating mailing lists. I would have to say that about the best parts of today were getting up early and having some good devotion time and breakfast before I headed off to work. I think both of those things have proven to make my mornings more productive. This evening wasn’t too bad. I didn’t get quite as much accomplished tonight as I had hoped but I did manage to have a rather tasty steak and potato supper, I also began creating an actual budget I hope to be sticking by. This was a huge eye opener. I didn’t realize how much I sort of relied on the side jobs I always seem to be getting, I thank God for knowing what I need. I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to cut out one additional trip home this month, and I’m still not certain how I’m going to pay for everything when I head out to MI. I’ve pretty much figured I’ll be sticking to a lunch of popcorn for quite some time. I’ll probably have to bring back the glory days of Ramen as well. I’m fortunate that I’ve got a good supply of meat that should get me by for quite some time. Gotta get myself some of the other dirt cheao meals like oatmeal & pancakes. It’s not like I can’t stand to lose a few pounds anyways, so it’s not all bad.

So, of course my whole life isn’t revolving around money. Well, what else consumed my evening? I ran over to my boss’s house for a bit to help him get Linux booted up on an old computer of his. It didn’t take me too long to get it going. I’m glad to have found that the wireless equipment I setup for him awhile ago was working great with the Linux LiveCD distro. Tried using the Ubuntu disc but found it was an install CD not the live CD. I pulled out the next-in-line which happened to be another sweet Linux live CD distro call Mepis, it took off without a hitch.

The rest of my evening consisted of the budget work and talking online with Vanessa. For those of you that don’t know, how could that be, Vanessa is the one I’m currently dating. It’s a rather complicated long distance relationship at the moment, but on the good side it means more flying and most of all getting to know one of the most wonderful women I know. I really look forward to getting some opportunities to introduce her to my friends and family. I’m quite certain they will like her as much as I do. 🙂

Well, it’s getting late and I’m going to tackle some reading before my head hit’s the pillow. On the bright side, I did get a post in for all your enjoymeny, lol. Valete!

Can I Make A Weekly Update?

Well, so it’s been almost 2 weeks since my last post. I think I need to do something about this. In no way have I gotten tired of the whole blog scene, it’s just that my life has changed so much. I’m still finding my way back to something that feels normal. Everything here still seems pretty new. I remember that it took a few months for me to establish some normalcy my first year of college. Everything was brand new for me, and it was hard to begin with. Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t felt sad that I’m here, I do miss seeing so many people but I have been able to chat briefly with so many of you. If anyone ever wants…

    Starting The Day With God

Whatever you’ve done and whatever you face, turn to God first, each morning. Give him your day, and then allow him to guide each step. Something that I’ve tried to stick to for years is to start my day off with having time with God. I can’t say it always happens, or that it’s always the quality time it should be. We all need time to focus on God, and what better time than first thing in the morning to get our day’s focus in the right place first.  Once-A-Day Bible for Men: http://bible.com/r/9V

    First Day in Sierra Leone

I had a great night’s sleep at the hotel. Where we are staying there are multiple buildings of rooms. Each of us has our own room and bathroom. I was honestly blown away with the accommodations. As I mentioned to my wife, I was humbled by the accommodations compared to living conditions we passed by on our drive to the hotel the previous evening. After breakfast, which included eggs, toast, fruit, and a hotdog, we loaded up in the World Hope vehicles on our way to Kethirie for church. It was so amazing to experience worship with the people of Kathirie and listen to the pastor and children’s ministry teacher give messages. What impacted my the most was seeing the people of Kathirie giving offerings…

    God’s Plans, My Hope

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord . “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. – Jeremiah 29:11 NLT I know there will be good days and not so good days. There will be times that the future seems uncertain. Despite how things may seem I know that God has my future in mind and I can rest and rely on that hope.

Final Day in Sierra Leone And Heading Home

Saturday was our last day in Sierra Leone. Ron, Terry, and I started off the day with a short 3 mile group run. It was pretty hot and humid. After showering and breakfast we headed to a market in Freetown. As we we’re on our way we we’re briefly stopped by a small parade or sorts, complete with a marching band. Our driver’s took us to a market that was in a building that had 2 floors packed with vendors. We all did a bit of haggling and purchased some items to bring home to friends and family. We headed back to the hotel after the market to pack up and head to lunch. We had one more meal at the Basha Bakery and ran…

  1. Ahhh….that’s slightly disturbing from a girl’s point of view…Personally, I’d be happy that Tim thinks that Vanessa is a wonderful woman. Sorry Alex!
