Had a great weekend camping not far from home at Woodchip Campground in Byron Center. Weekend was filled with a bunch of fun activities with the kids including time in the pool and time with some of Vanessa’s family. We haven’t decided if Woodchip will become an annual location or not.

Glad I got the lawn mowed this afternoon before the rain rolled in. Going to try and keep on top of everything while Vanessa is gone to Africa this week. As we were praying before supper tonight reality hit me that she is gone. I’ll be honest, I almost lost it as we were praying for her and the trip. I know that this was God’s plan, and He’s in control of it all. I have no doubt of His protection over, and plan for, the team.
As much as I’d like to think that I was ready to parent the fact is that I owe a lot to my wife. If it wasn’t for my wife’s knowledge and experience my kids wouldn’t have had the experiences they have had so far. I’m still learning everyday day how to be a better parent.
I read this story tonight and it got me thinking about the journey I’ve been on but even more the HWI Daybreak community that I’ve been blessed to be apart of. Running has become for me something I couldn’t even have fathomed a little more than a year ago. Running for me is apart of who I am, and the relationships I’m building are a huge part of that as well. I hope that my running and my journey can be a light of Hope in the lives of people I share it with.

Working parents everywhere, especially remote workers, could identify with the humorous embarrassment of the situation. Even those who have had pets interrupt Skype calls know the feeling. The key is keeping it all in balance and managing the priorities. It is tough sometimes, and I have to realize that I can’t do it all, but I also have to keep in mind that I can accomplish…
I love it when I get a chance to introduce my kids to some of the movie classics I grew up watching, like Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory. I constantly feel like they just don’t make movies like they used to. These days everything is special effects and action, whereas the technologic limitations forced a lot of focus and energy on the story. I love to see my kids actually engaged in the movie stories that I watched as a kid. I can’t tell you how many times my kids wanted to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang before they were ready to move on.
This weekend was a busy one. We completed 3 yard projects including a new sandbox, stone fire bowl ring, and a prepped area for the above ground pool when it arrives. A lot of projects knocked off that we look forward to enjoying the rest of the summer.
