Kicking It Into High Gear
I felt pretty good starting out this morning with a speedy starting pace. It was a short run this morning so I kicked it up a notch s bit above the easy pace that was called for. I love it a couple of the worship songs come on that talk about running or moving, those really get me fired up. One thing is for certain, winter running is certainly my thing. It was a great morning for a long run with my running partner John. It was nice to have him help me keep a better pace throughout the run which actually resulted in an even better finish, both in pace and how I felt. Sometimes accountability it the best thing to keep you in track. Let’s just say it was a little cold outside. I still don’t understand why people, and businesses, and churches couldn’t have their sidewalks clear by now. For those that got them cleared you are a blessing to us runners. I made the mistake of using my CamelBak again. The line froze again at about mile 3-4. I need to figure out something better, maybe the best I can do is water bottles when it’s this cold and just conserve. I can say that until now it’s been pretty great weather for runners in the winter. Today’s run started off good but the second half was a tough to get through. It wasn’t a terrible training run but it wasn’t my best. When someone in Sierra Leone needs to make a trip to find water, there can be some good days, or some bad day. A bit of a wet morning, but not a downpour, so it kept things a little cooler. It was a good thing it was only just shy of 6 miles, as I needed to be able to make it home to get to the bathroom. That last mile was a bit uncomfortable. I was glad to have still gotten up early, even though it was a holiday, to get my run done and enjoy the rest of the day. #HWI #GRMarathon #Run4Water
