Pushing The Limits But Remembering Sierra Leone

Tried to push myself to my limit on pace this morning. I’m still not going to win any races but I like seeing where all day physically. Even in spite of my focus being on the physical God was reminding me of why I run, by bringing back memories of those I met in Sierra Leone.

    11 Frosty Beard Miles

    Today marks the last of my longer training runs as the taper begins before marathon day. The temp this morning was in the high teens which resulted in a pretty frosty beard. I ended up pushing things a little harder than the training plan called for, but I was trying to make it back home at a decent time. I ended up a bit slower the second half because I pushed things a bit harder than I should have, but that’s just the way it goes.     Enjoying The Start Of A New Training Week

    I enjoyed a shorter easy training run this morning. I guess it wasn’t super short as it was long enough to feel like I could get my mind off of the running and start listening to the words of the worship music playing and lift up those that God brought to my mind that needed prayer this morning.     80 Degree Morning Run With The Blessing of Water

    Sporting the Slip n Slide 5K shirt on my training run this morning. It was a hot one at 5am, I can’t imagine doing my run later today. Running in the heat took me back to our short 3 mile run in Freetown #SierraLeone and remembering #WhyIRun for those in need. I was blessed to have 2 fresh bottles of water available to me while I ran.     As I ran this morning my mind was on the huge impact that clean water has on the children of Sierra Leone. Easy access to clean water means a brighter future for the children.
