How Does The Fediverse Feel About Users Coming From Twitter?

via: https://www.zylstra.org/blog/2022/10/a-netsplit-unless-the-bird-trapper-makes-it-permanent/

I understand that the does in fact have a distinct difference from , and there is a lot that happens on Twitter, or can, that the Fediverse doesn’t want. However, I think regardless of whether people have the misconception that the Fediverse, and platforms like , are going to become the new Twitter (it isn’t IMO), I think it’s OK to welcome new people in and help those that genuinely want to experience something new and be a part of a welcoming community online.

    1. Yes, that’s very true. I guess I would hope that people looking into the Fediverse would find an instance that fits with the kind of community they’d want to start out with. Also, I would hope that the Fediverse would have some level of initial grace in helping newcomers learn what it means to be a part of the Fediverse.
