While Running Anything Can Happen

This week I was pretty off on my but I got my long run in today since I’ve got an all day conference tomorrow. It felt good to be back out running and I even felt good about my pace, for an easy long run. I’m not sure if it was God leading me but I started thinking about Sierra Leone and the next team going and wondered if I should consider leading the team.

    We’re definitely into the hot #summer runs. I can’t imagine doing my #training run later in the day with this heat, especially not with lots of water.     A Brutal Winter Run

    Wow, that is all I can say about the weather this morning on my run. Between the freezing rain pelting me, the massive wind gusts, and the snow-covered sidewalks that reduced my traction to almost zero, let’s just say I felt like I ran 12 miles not just shy of 6. I laugh because today was supposed to be an easy run day, and with that pace you might think I took it slow but that wasn’t really what went down. Mornings like this make it hard to focus on much else than the will power to keep going and get it done. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun

A village with a well becomes a source of hope, even for people not native to that village. It puts that village on a path of prosperity and growth.

    Getting in A 10K+ Run

    Clean water has a huge effect on a village. When clean water is readily available it means students can go to school that would have otherwise had to spend their days collecting water.     Expanding The Meaning Of Running For Water

    So this morning, after making it about a quarter of a mile from home, I realized I had forgotten to grab my water when I walked out the door. At that point I really didn’t feel like going back home and starting my run over. The first half of the run was OK, but the second half was a bit more of a struggle without my water, making my #Run4Water mean even more than normal. As I continued through my run, #WhyIRun was at the forefront of my mind. My struggle doesn’t even compare to the daily struggle for clean water that those in Sierra Leone, Africa face. I had the benefit of a virtually unlimited supply of water waiting for me after the run….
