When clean water is brought to a community it’s not done suddenly and randomly then moving on to another random village. World Hope(#WHI) works with a carefully chosen village to establish ownership of the well by that village. The village agrees to manage and care for the well in order to serve their community for the long term. The are taught how to maintain and repair the well, and are tasked with protecting it as well. We had a great afternoon taking in a Wisconsin Dells feature. We’ve been to the Dells a few years now and haven’t taken in any of the attractions. We thought it was good to try something. #TheDells

Getting It Done, 17 Mile Marathon Training Run
Had some nice early morning weather for my 17 miles. I was so grateful to have the #HWI water stations out by the time I got through about half of my run. It was nice to not have to figure out how to drop water somewhere. It was a tougher run going it alone. I definitely appreciate being able to run with the group and visit while running. It takes your mind off of the run and helps to keep you motivated. There were people out on the trails by the 2nd half of my run so it was nice to have people to greet and get some encouraging words at times. #GRMarathon #Run4Water

I’m hopeful that today’s run is a sign that my Saturday long run will go better this week. No matter whether we have a “bad” day or a good one, just getting out there and putting in some miles shows our commitment to the cause. Ultimately, more wells in Africa is the real goal regardless of how a training run goes. I haven’t seen any donations come in for my $1000 goal yet but I’m hopeful that someone will be inspired and moved to join with me every time I share.
