It’s a strange thing comparing your hot midday run to your cool early morning. I would have thought that I was going to knock my pace out of the park this morning but alas no. I have to believe that my lack of rest last night was a major contributor. The interesting thing was seeing my heart rate drop to the low to mid 130s during miles 5 & 6. I can only attribute that to my shower pace during those miles while I was pretty focused on prayer for family, friends, and those needing water in Sierra Leone, like the village of #Ronkorhun. I’m hoping to find those one again that are willing to partner with me to bring clean water to Africa as I commit to running the #GRMarathon with #HWI again this year. #Run4Water #WhyIRun

It’s tough doing long training runs all by yourself, and 15 miles is no joke. I pretty much got my peak pace at around 10 miles. The final 5 miles was quite a struggle at times, and my lap pace times reflected it. It’s hard to imagine that I’m going to need to go another 11.2 miles beyond what I ran today come marathon day. This year has felt way more off than last year. I got it done nonetheless. #HWI #GRMarathon #Run4Water
In the U.S. pretty much everyone has running water where they live. How much water do we use in a day? Showers, meals, washing dishes and clothes, using the bathroom, watering the flowers/garden/lawn, making coffee/tea/other drinks. What if you had to walk 2-5 miles to get a jug of water, maybe even river or pond water? Can you imagine what it would be like to have clean, drinkable, water just down the block? While we might still consider having to go even a block to get more water and inconvenience, think about the life change close access to clean water actually makes in the lives of those that don’t have it. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Give The Gift of Access to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr
This 4th of July #holiday week we are enjoying camping with 4 generations of Nolte’s. Had a great time at the water park this morning and we’ll be heading to the beach this afternoon. #FamilyCamping #WaterPark #4thofJuly
To think about not having water on these hot runs, or water that will make you sick so you can’t even run, really puts our privilege in the U.S. into perspective. #Run4Water #WhyIRun #HWI #KCC #GRHalfMarathon

We’re definitely into the hot #summer runs. I can’t imagine doing my #training run later in the day with this heat, especially not with lots of water. I thought 1 bottle was going to be enough this morning, boy was I wrong. Despite the heat I still had a good time focusing on prayer and listening to God. Especially remembering those in Sierra Leone that impacted me. #HWI #HessLakeRun #GRMarathon #Run4Water
