I Told My Wife I Was Just Going For A Short Run

So my distance terminology might just be a little wacky. When I told my wife that I was just going for a short run tonight she asked if I was running to the end of the street, which of course I responded with no I was just running 5 miles. She laughed. The other day on a work call I mentioned only running between 6-9 miles in the mornings, which got some puzzling responses as well. Having tackled 3 marathons, and putting in hundreds of training miles, I can say that I’m officially a long distance runner. Today was a little bit of an off day since I ran in the evening. I’ve been managing a cold all week and not letting myself get enough…

Another “Easy” Run With The New App And Training Plan

I’m starting to feel like I’m getting back into the groove of running again. The biggest thing for me is that I need to have a plan for running. Early mornings are really the best time for me to get a run in. In order for me to be motivated to get up early, and not stay in bed, I need to have a goal and a plan. I’m not sure if I’ll ever truly be at a place to simply run for the sake of running, and that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy my running. For most things in my life I just need to have a goal or plan. #HWI #Run4Water #RiverBankRun #SocialDistanceRunner

    Preflight Long Run

Since our family was flying to Minnesota very early the next morning I decided to get my long run in the night before. It started out very strange because as I ran I felt like I was slowly trudging along but when my audio coach gave me updates it was saying I was doing a pace under 9 min/mi which just didn’t seem possible. Then for the first half of the run I was just cruising. The second half of the run was a very different story. I’m not sure why I just hit the wall but it happened. I eventually decided to cut the run short at a half marathon distance. Giving how slow my pace was the last few miles I expected a…

The Keyword is “Since” Not “If”

As a follow up to my previous post it’s important that we remember that everything we are called to do as a Christ follower is in the context of “since” and not “if”. What’s the difference? If we have the thinking, “if someone is doing ‘x’, or not doing ‘y’, they can’t be a believer”, we are basically inferring that someone has no faith or belief in Christ because of their actions. That’s a pretty big leap, and a sure fire way to further the view that Christians are righteous, judgemental, hippacrits, essentially modern day Pharisees. As we dig into the New Testament we’ll find it’s very clear that as a result of being, or “since” we are, Christ followers there should be a lot…

Kicking Off A Monday With Another 5 Miles For Clean Water

As I ran this morning my mind was on the huge impact that clean water has on the children of Sierra Leone. Easy access to clean water means a brighter future for the children. They can choose school over spending they’re days collecting water for their families. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon #RiverBankRun Double your gift of clean water: https://timn.me/2020HWI
