The Road To Water Can Be A Treacherous One

For many in Africa it is a long and sometimes treacherous road to get to the nearest place for water. Bringing a well to a village not only ensures they have clean water but also the safety of those young girls and boys that would have had to make the trip for water for their families.

Sticking To The Plan, An Ready Training Run

This morning I was able to keep the pace on the slower side. It helped to keep my mind on the worship music and lifting family and the people of a Sierra Leone up in prayer. When you see family struggle and there is not much you can do to help you realize quickly that God is wanting you to bring those needs to him to take care of. For the people of Sierra Leone, I don’t recall if their dry season has started yet, but regardless my prayers are for wells to continue to be drilled to provide more people easy access to clean water to help their children stay health and in school, and to improve life for their entire communities. And ultimately,…

Looking Back on 2017, the Year of Firsts

I don’t recall if I’ve ever written any sort of year-in-review blog post or even social media post, but this year I have had so many firsts that I wanted to reflect on and share my thanks for. Health In the health department I not only reached my initial target goal weight but actually surpassed it, and my second target. I think this year I’ve weighed the least that I have in 26 years. I have always struggled with my weight and living a more healthy lifestyle. I attribute my success primarily to my wife, and also to the encouragement of many friends and family. I also had to have a lot of self-determination as well, but that was only had by seeing the impact my…

    Beginning The Mileage Increase

The training schedule this week is starting to increase my weekly miles, so my mornings are going to begin getting earlier. Early mornings are actually hard for me but it’s the only way I can really make the time to run. Why would I choose to get up in the wee hours of the morning to run? This is part of #WhyIRun and my commitment to #Run4Water while hopefully inspiring others through my commitment. #HWI #RiverBankRun Give to clean water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

Back At It After A Long Weekend Break

It was a little bit of a struggle starting out this morning after having a long weekend of no running. Felt better by the end of my run. Through one of the worship songs this morning I was prompted to pray specifically for the father’s of Sierra Leone. There are many women and children that have been abandoned because of cultural stigmatism. My prayer this morning was for a revival in the hearts of the husbands and fathers of Sierra Leone. #HWI #HessLakeRun #GRMarathon #Run4Water #SierraLeone Hudsonville, Michigan, United States of America

Getting In Some Miles Early On A Wet Wednesday

As I was running in the rain this morning it got me thinking about the hardship that the rainy season causes for many in Sierra Leone. Like those that work for Enable The Children, the children with disabilities ministry, and those that #ETC supports. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun It’s crazy to think that something like rain, which should be a blessing to a people in desperate need of clean water, could cause hardship. For many though, the rainy season makes it challenging to get around and do things like sell their goods at the market. A well also brings safety during the rainy season both from a health standpoint as well as from the risks of trying to gather water from moving water like streams. Help…
