It was good that I had a week of blistering cold Minnesota running which pretty much prepared me for the colder weather we’ve had this week. This morning was a shorter interval run, but the 20 minute high intensity interval pretty much set me up to only focus on the run, and the upcoming Groundhog Day Marathon. I’m trying to just trust my training is preparing me like it should but the longest I’ve ran since the last marathon was 18 miles, which is 8.2 miles short. Again, I need to keep my focus on merely finishing and not let myself get caught up with anything else. I can’t deny that it would be great to beat my last marathon time, but I can’t let that be my focus. I want to make sure that I’m enjoying myself as well. Perhaps that sounds crazy, to think that someone would enjoy running 26.2 miles, LOL. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus

After taking the previous day off due to lack of sleep I was more than ready to go this morning. So much so that I was pretty much in a comfortable high gear for most of the run. It helps to be rockin’ the worship music right along with my run. I have to give credit to those longer hard speed work training days too. I’m still looking for a few more people that might consider donating to wells in Africa as the year comes to an end and Christmas approaches. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus Donate to Water – https://timn.me/2t9D4ne
I had the opportunity to witness, first hand, the water situation in Sierra Leone, Africa. It is an honor that Hope Water Intl is working with World Hope Intl in a joint mission to bring clean water to Africa. I am proud to know that #WHI is not just sending Americans into Africa to help and leave, but rather they train and employ locals to carry out the mission. Whether they need drivers, administration, or well drillers, nearly everyone is a national. I didn’t get a chance to hear each of their stories on how they got to where they are today. I can only imagine the amazing stories they must have. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Donate to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr
It was a tough morning for an interval run. Having some not very clear sidewalks makes it hard to get a solid footing. Even though things were tough this morning I still had some good prayer time. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GroundhogDayMarathon
We all have those off days, for me today was one of those. The second half of my run was more challenging than last week. Given I PR’d for a half marathon I was surprised by today. I really can’t complain, I was supposed to be running a 9:40 min/mi pace. So in reality I was pushing when I shouldn’t have been. Some times I think about giving up the focus on pace and even getting faster and just go out and enjoy the run for what it is. I’m sure at some point I’ll get there, I’m just not sure if I’m ready to be at that place yet. When you are running for almost 2 hours you have a lot of time to…
Today started off a little bit slower. There was a little bit of a communication problem with breakfast but it all worked out with plenty of time before our World Hope transportation arrived. Terry and I actually had a little time to chat with some of the hotel staff after breakfast during and after the butchering of our goat. Yes, Terry and I got to see them butchering “litte Ron” as some of us liked to call him. We explained a little bit about Hope Water International and the partnership with World Hope. Once our rides arrived we loaded up and headed to the office to meet up with some World Hope staff that would be joining us for the day in Katherie. Once things…
The training schedule this week is starting to increase my weekly miles, so my mornings are going to begin getting earlier. Early mornings are actually hard for me but it’s the only way I can really make the time to run. Why would I choose to get up in the wee hours of the morning to run? This is part of #WhyIRun and my commitment to #Run4Water while hopefully inspiring others through my commitment. #HWI #RiverBankRun Give to clean water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr
