A Hoodie Kind Of Morning

It was good that I had a week of blistering cold Minnesota running which pretty much prepared me for the colder weather we’ve had this week. This morning was a shorter interval run, but the 20 minute high intensity interval pretty much set me up to only focus on the run, and the upcoming Groundhog Day Marathon. I’m trying to just trust my training is preparing me like it should but the longest I’ve ran since the last marathon was 18 miles, which is 8.2 miles short. Again, I need to keep my focus on merely finishing and not let myself get caught up with anything else. I can’t deny that it would be great to beat my last marathon time, but I can’t let that be my focus. I want to make sure that I’m enjoying myself as well. Perhaps that sounds crazy, to think that someone would enjoy running 26.2 miles, LOL.

Beating The Urge To Go Back To Bed

A little windy this morning but it made for a nice cool run. I didn’t feel like I slept very well so it was hard to get going this morning. The thought crossed my mind a couple of times to just skip the run today and go back to bed. I couldn’t get myself to do that though. I know that once I actually get moving things turn around. Also, it’s the best time for me to get one-on-one with God with little distraction. It’s hard to believe that the #GRMarathon is only like 6 weeks away. I still have some fundraising to do for #HWI and I’d really like to get to $2000 but that will be a big challenge for sure. #Run4Water Hudsonville,…

    Day Of Visits And Experiences

We started our day at the World Hope International offices with introductions of some of the key staff that are involved with putting in wells. We also got briefed on some things to expect for the day and coming week. After our time meeting with the staff we got a tour of the drilling equipment and storage by Eugene. Eugene is from Nigeria and was brought to World Hope in Sierra Leone to lead the drilling teams. The tour included a lot of details on what the different equipment is used for in the process of drilling wells. There was so much I never realized went into drilling a well. After the tour we headed out to a village to dedicate a well that Hope…

    Better Together: Community On Mission

God wants us to share that Good News. But you’re not alone! God wants you to go on mission with other people. Philippians 1:27 says, “You are standing side by side with one strong purpose — to tell the Good News” (TLB). Better Together Devotional God calls us to the #mission of sharing the Good News, but He doesn’t require us to do it all by ourselves. God gives us #community to share in the mission. “Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting…

A Run To Refocus And Relieve Some Stress

Due to early morning work my morning run got delayed. However, it was a downpouring rain. At 4:30 this morning anyways. It was a tough run with the heat/humidity and a bad morning at work. I needed the run to clear my head and prepare myself for the day ahead. Despite all the focus on myself on this run I did listen to God’s prompting long enough to lift some others’ needs up to him. #HWI #GRMarathon #Run4Water

Early Race Pace Run, Sort Of, Before The Men’s Breakfast

How can you say no to these children? With your donation you can make double the impact with our matching funds. $255 to go, meaning another 19 people impacted with clean water. Don’t wait, it’s easy to give now! https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr #HWI #Run4Water #WhtIRun #GRMarathon I had to get up at 4ak this morning in order to get my 15 miles in before the Men’s Breakfast. Today the goal was to do the whole run at my anticipated marathon race pace, which I’m targeting a 9:30 min/mile. My pace was a bit too fast, but it was a much shorter run, and given I did a 25K(15.5 mile) race this spring at an 8:30 min/mile pace it’s reasonable to be at a little over 9. I’m…

Another Interval Training Run For Clean Water On A Brisk Thursday Morning

The number of children in Africa that suffer from lack of clean water is staggering. I’ve been to Sierra Leone and seen first hand the hardship the people experience when they don’t have easy access to clean water, and I’ve seen the transformation when they do. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun Give to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr
