A Little Farther, A Little Slower

This morning was really not even a full mile farther than Tuesday. Things were a little slower today but that’s just fine, it was still a good solid run. I really need to start working on a new training plan soon. I’ll have to wait to start a new training plan until I’m back I the swing of things after my surgery next week. I’m hoping that I don’t have to take too much of a break from running after my surgery, but we’ll see what happens.

I’m still in the fence on whether I’ll be running the full marathon again this year or if I’ll be scaling back to the half marathon. I’ll have to make a final decision once I’ve recovered from my surgery. I’ll have to wait to register for awhile since my connection for a free entry won’t get his codes until like August. I’m hoping it works out otherwise I’ll end up having to pay a premium for my entry. It’s a little bit of a gamble but it’s worth it if I get a free entry. I’m also going to need to get new shoes again soon, but I’m hoping to find a sale online for another pair of the shoes I already have. I try to just go in for a fitting after every-other pair of new shoes.

    Extended Family Holiday Weekend

Had a great extended weekend with the family. Loved having the extra day and enjoyed many fun activities. It started Friday night with my wife and I renting and watching The Shack. Saturday was a busy day starting off with the HWI group run followed by getting supplies and materials to build a deck out back. On Sunday we enjoyed a great Sunday message as a campfire with the family, mother in-law, and father in-law. Monday we had a great morning at the Jenison Memorial Day Parade with the kids. Mom (i.e. Vanessa) was in the parade for the Saturday Slip & Slide so Dad (i.e. me) was in charge of getting the kids a good spot for candy collection. 😉 We wrapped up the rest…

    Beginning The Mileage Increase

The training schedule this week is starting to increase my weekly miles, so my mornings are going to begin getting earlier. Early mornings are actually hard for me but it’s the only way I can really make the time to run. Why would I choose to get up in the wee hours of the morning to run? This is part of #WhyIRun and my commitment to #Run4Water while hopefully inspiring others through my commitment. #HWI #RiverBankRun Give to clean water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

Life Change And Purpose Through Running

When I look back just 3 years ago it’s hard to believe that I would be awake at 5:45am cooling down from a 4 mile run. Even in my high school days I wasn’t a morning person, not saying that I am a morning person now. I honestly owe a lot to my wife and #HWI for their part in giving me purpose in my runs. God used them to make a huge change in my life. I don’t just run because I enjoy it I run with a purpose. #Run4Water #WhyIRun Donate to Water, to Life – https://timn.me/2t9D4ne

    Two Weeks Since Groundhog

It’s hard to believe that it was 2 weeks ago that I did the Groundhog Day Marathon. It’s been nice to get back into a running routine this past week. Do to so e family things going on I wasn’t able to make it to run with those from the #HWI team. Hopefully I’ll be able to make some time soon. This morning while I listened to the worship music I was thinking about the next #SierraLeone team. I prayed that God would bring just the right people together for this trip. #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun

Early Tuesday Morning Training Run For Clean Water

It’s a strange thing comparing your hot midday run to your cool early morning. I would have thought that I was going to knock my pace out of the park this morning but alas no. I have to believe that my lack of rest last night was a major contributor. The interesting thing was seeing my heart rate drop to the low to mid 130s during miles 5 & 6. I can only attribute that to my shower pace during those miles while I was pretty focused on prayer for family, friends, and those needing water in Sierra Leone, like the village of #Ronkorhun. I’m hoping to find those one again that are willing to partner with me to bring clean water to Africa as…
