Would You Rather…Run In 90 Degree Heat Or A Foot Of Snow?

There wasn’t a foot of snow this morning, it was probably more like 6 inches, but it still made for a tough go of it as you still need good traction to move. I almost wiped out on a slick spots in the Family Faire parking lot towards the end of my run.

In regards to “would you rather”, my preference is winter running over hot summer running any day. It’s significantly easier getting yourself warmed up by running than it is to get cooled down. Then again it does matter what weather conditions you might expect for any race you plan on running. Given I’ll be running the Groundhog Marathon at the beginning of February the more terrible winter runs I have the better prepared I’ll be come race day.

No matter what conditions I “run” into, nothing compares to the harsh reality of a long trek for water that many in Africa face daily. And in many cases it’s a long trek for dirty, and often deadly, water. When a new well goes in a village the effects are enormous.

Day Before The Big Run, Grand Rapids Marathon 2018

Headed down to the Grand Rapids YMCA downtown and picked up my race packet and checked out the expo. Enjoyed chatting with some #HWI folks as well as some race organizers for other marathons that take place in the Spring. Who knows maybe another marathon besides the #GRMarathon will be in my future some day. I am signed up for the #RiverBankRun this next May, so looking forward to some winter training for that. I’m still looking to hit that $2000 mark for wells in Africa. I have about $750 to go. There’s still time to partner with me if you haven’t yet. #Run4Water #WhyIRun Donate to Water, to Life – https://timn.me/2t9D4ne

A Little Sprinkle To Liven Up The Run

I wasn’t sure what I was going to end up running in this morning when the forecast called for rain. It really only ended up being a tiny bit of drops here and there, but I was prepared either way. It’s interesting what you get used to after awhile of running. There was a time that rain meant a treadmill run. These days, unless there is life threatening weather you couldn’t keep me inside. This morning while running I got to thinking about how much the world today seems to be trying to tear families apart. It’s very apparent that Satan knows that he can gain a foothold by attacking families. I see so many throw in the towel on their family all because they…

Just Another 11 Mile Saturday Run For Clean Water

In the U.S. we have access to many things that we end up just taking for granted. And it’s not a matter of doing something wrong it’s just what we are used to. When a village receives a well it is a big celebration of thankfulness. During this season of celebrating the greatest gift of all remember those that don’t have some of the basic necessities such as clean water. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus Give the Gift of Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr
