A Slow Cold Monday 5K

When the sidewalks and streets aren’t super clear of snow, or packed down from traffic, it makes running and having traction a challenge to say the least. Sometimes it’s harder to enjoy the run when I get slowed down, like by the snow. My thoughts focus ends up mostly on trying to get through the snow instead of enjoying it. And then it’s even easier to forget why I’m running in the first place.

I almost didn’t make it out this morning. It was another one of those mornings where the thought of getting more sleep felt more appealing them going out and running. What helped push me onwards was looking at my planned training run for Tuesday and seeing an interval run, knowing that if I didn’t get a decent warmup today and interval run the next day would be even more brutal. This is one reason why, for me, having a training plan and a race to train for are a big motivator for me.

Setting Goals And Going After Them

Setting goals is fun and games. Going after them is another matter. Without perspiration to match your inspiration, your dream imagined will turn into a dream deferred. Chase The Lion Something that I’ve had a hard time with over the years is having clear goals to work towards. Even in my job it’s most often been a matter of just getting direction from others or meeting the immediate needs. This seems counter to my planner personality but it’s never been the short term, knowing what needs to get done, planning that has been my challenge. It’s never been a real priority for me to have goals and a plan for seeing those goals met. I think I’ve always had ideas that have come to mind…

    While Running Anything Can Happen

This week I was pretty off on my #training but I got my long run in today since I’ve got an all day conference tomorrow. It felt good to be back out running and I even felt good about my pace, for an easy long run. I’m not sure if it was God leading me but I started thinking about Sierra Leone and the next team going and wondered if I should consider leading the team. #HWI #GRMarathon #Run4Water #HessLakeRun #SierraLeone

    It’s The Abominable Snowman!

Let’s just say it was a little cold outside. I still don’t understand why people, and businesses, and churches couldn’t have their sidewalks clear by now. For those that got them cleared you are a blessing to us runners. I made the mistake of using my CamelBak again. The line froze again at about mile 3-4. I need to figure out something better, maybe the best I can do is water bottles when it’s this cold and just conserve. I can say that until now it’s been pretty great weather for runners in the winter. I take days like this as just another way to prepare for anything come the Groundhog Day Marathon. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus

    Running With Purpose And Hope

I really worked on trying to keep it an easy run, and not push myself so hard, this morning. I made a point of listening to my heart rate, especially for a long easy run. I definitely had a lot on my mind. When I start lifting people, and needs, up to God in prayer I so easily hey overwhelmed with all the needs of so many that I know. Some days it feels like the world is just such a disaster. Something hit me this morning though. Seeking God’s will and plan for your life was never presented as making for an easy life. The very fact that Jesus said “take up your cross and follow me” is pretty self-explanatory on what that is…

  1. There maybe have been duplicates I’m some other cases this past week since I’ve been working on changing my syndication process. I hadn’t considered email subscriptions to me site. I’m going to have to see about being able to short circuit those emails somehow.

  2. This was some freakout with the WordPress mobile app this morning. A failed image upload caused the app to keep trying the same post over and over again reporting to the app failure but in fact posts were happening.
