Getting Back on the Saddle After a Brief Break

After a couple week break, a new phone, new app, and a new training plan I’m back to my early morning runs. I’m hoping that I can get back into things.

The nature of my break from running was in large part due to finding out that my Spring race was postponed to the fall, and on top of that it was postponed again to the weekend following the marathon, which I was also already signed up for. The new stuff phone/app/plan was not related to my break at all really, well the new plan would have been regardless I guess.

    Christmas Eating Recovery Run

Some people may not realize that I actually love food. One of my downfalls is also that I’m an emotional eater. That made the commitment to drastically change my eating habits no simple task. There were a couple of things that helped me stay the course on my journey to a healthier lifestyle. The first thing was that before the journey began I was diagnosed with #prediabetes, and if I didn’t make some changes I was going to have some major health issues in the future. The other piece was that my wife and I started that journey together. This made things like meal planning, and having healthy snacks on hand, a ton easier. There was a lot of holiday snacking going on this week,…

Bringing Renewed Life And Joy Through Clean Water

Every day the #HWI team gets out to train for the #GRMarathon is a show of our commitment to the cause of clean water in Africa. I have seen first hand the changes that reliable clean water bring to a village in #SierraLeone through the smiling faces, and brightness in the eyes, of children. #Run4Water #WhyIRun Donate to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

    It’s The Abominable Snowman!

Let’s just say it was a little cold outside. I still don’t understand why people, and businesses, and churches couldn’t have their sidewalks clear by now. For those that got them cleared you are a blessing to us runners. I made the mistake of using my CamelBak again. The line froze again at about mile 3-4. I need to figure out something better, maybe the best I can do is water bottles when it’s this cold and just conserve. I can say that until now it’s been pretty great weather for runners in the winter. I take days like this as just another way to prepare for anything come the Groundhog Day Marathon. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus

    Fighting For Integrity

We aren’t born with a heart of integrity, and if we want it, we have to fight for it. – A Life Of Integrity In a world filled with concern for only ones self, and the drive for success, integrity is always being challenged. It isn’t as simple as just making the good choice, we have have to stand against an entire world that apposes us. To fight also means to surround ourselves with people who are always watching and holding us accountable. – A Life Of Integrity We can’t make it through this world as a Christ follower on our own, let alone maintain integrity. We all need partners to do life with and keep us accountable to living a life of integrity. We…
