Excellent Weekend…
Well, I didn’t get a post made last night. I just got a little tired to make the post. Also, there wasn’t much that went on Saturday. I got up around 9:30 and got around to getting my remaining leaves cleaned up and taken to the dump before the rain came. I made some bread in the bread machine for the first time. The crust got a little harder and thicker than I would have preferred but it was tasty. I mostly bummed around that day. I went over to John O’s that night and watched “The Magnificent Seven” with Rud Wasson & Shawn Osborne. It was a good old western. Today I got up for the early service at church. John Kilde gave the…

Getting It Done On A Monday Morning
It was one of those mornings where after getting up you entertain the idea of just going back to bed instead of get out there for a run. I got over it and hit the streets. It was a slow start, but by the end of my run I had easily picked up the pace. I came to a point, after having prayed for the pending #SierraLeone team, that it kind of dawned on me. How many of those in Sierra Leone get tired of the daily trek to get water for another day? They don’t really have the choice. I had a relatively easy choice this morning, nothing in my life hinges on that choice to run or not. My choice to run may…
Alternatives to Seclusion and Restraint of Special Needs Individuals
After discovering the realities of seclusion and restraint with our autistic daughter at school my wife an I are learning more about the realities of our schools and culture in how kids with special needs are being handled. We don’t disagree that something needs to be done, but there are alternatives that are safer and better for everyone. A recent podcast, LOMAH Special Needs Podcast (#39 – Restraint & Seclusion of Special Needs Individuals), that my wife an I listened gave very compelling alternatives. Use our alternative physical techniques of blocking. If you can restrain someone you can block someone. Kim Sanders – Ukeru Systems

Your Wife Should Not Be Outserving You
This is not about having a competition with your wife on serving, it’s about taking a hard look at yourself as a husband and asking yourself what kind of leader are you. We live in a world where leadership, and men, are expected to be authoritative and followed because of their authority. Jesus’ picture of a leader is a stark contrast to the world’s idea. And God’s design and calling for a husband is a daily challenge that I doubt many of us even come close to living up to. Marriage is work, and being the kind of husband, and father, God calls us to be should be our highest priority. “If you are fulfilling Jesus’ word that the one who wants to be the…

Completing My 2020 Virtual Grand Rapids Half Marathon
To be honest, this morning didn’t feel like marathon day. It pretty much felt like any other morning I get up while it’s still dark, and everyone else is asleep, to go for a run. #GRMarathon #Run4Water #HWI This year has been a challenging one for running, and races, that is for sure. Most races were cancelled, postponed, or changed to virtual. My training has been all on my own, and when the pandemic hit I stopped sharing all of my runs on social media. Life wasn’t “business as usual” and I really couldn’t maintain a facade like it was. I did commit to running my 2020 Grand Rapids Half Marathon as a virtual run despite the offer to defer to next year. This morning…

Wee Early Morning Run
Well, this morning was not a typical training run. With having to start work at 5:30 in the morning my focus was mostly on getting done as quick as I could. I did take some time at the end of my run for some prayer time, so it wasn’t a total loss. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus Donate to Clean Water – https://timn.me/2t9D4ne
