80 Degree Morning Run With The Blessing of Water

Sporting the Slip n Slide 5K shirt on my training run this morning. It was a hot one at 5am, I can’t imagine doing my run later today. Running in the heat took me back to our short 3 mile run in Freetown and remembering for those in need. I was blessed to have 2 fresh bottles of water available to me while I ran. That is a luxury not found by many in Sierra Leone.

Sloshing Through A Wet Tuesday Long Run

Even though it had snowed the night before, it was a pretty wet run. When I got done my socks were soaked. One aspect of the slush that I don’t enjoy, besides the wet feet, is the buildup of ice that happens in my cleats and having to run with ice balls stuck to your feet. On the bright side it encouraged me to slow down. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun

    Kicking It Into High Gear

I felt pretty good starting out this morning with a speedy starting pace. It was a short run this morning so I kicked it up a notch s bit above the easy pace that was called for. I love it a couple of the worship songs come on that talk about running or moving, those really get me fired up. One thing is for certain, winter running is certainly my thing. I’m not sure if I’d go so far as to say that I would choose winter over summer, but it comes close. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus

Back At It, Starting The Riverbank Run Training

I took about a week break for recovery after the Groundhog Marathon. Normally I’d start a reverse training following a marathon, but with only 3 months to go before the Riverbank Run I really couldn’t afford the time in order to get a good amount of training in. With some new shoes, and a fresh coat of snow, it felt good to be back out there stopping on the pavement. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RBR

    Just Another Tuesday Morning 10K

Since I kind of felt at an odd place training plan-wise I decided to do a long and hard run. I did however make sure I spent some time connecting with God through prayer and some worship music. During my run I couldn’t help feel blessed, and thankful, for my quick recovery from my surgery. I had the impression that I would have weeks of no running, but my recovery went so well I was feeling good for a run within a week. I also was reminded that just a little over a year ago I had just returned from a trip to Sierra Leone Africa. I will never forget my experience there and the impact it has had on my life. Taking On The Wet And Windy Tuesday Run

It was a kind of interesting morning, weather wise. There was some big thunder before 4am but when I got outside for my morning run there wasn’t much for rain, just some sprinkles and mist off-and-on. The wind came and went as well. The crazy thing once again is to see my pace improve of the course of my run. Instead of what one would normally see, where your pace might get slower over the course of a run, for me my pace got better the longer I ran. It was a good morning for a run all around. Only a few more weeks until the #RiverBank and I think I’m feeling good about my training so far. #HWI #WhyIRun #Run4Water
