A 5 Mile Training Run In The Face Of A Challenging World
As I ran this morning I couldn’t help but think about the impact that #COVID19 is having on our world and not just with those infected, having died, or those secluding themselves bin protection. There is the global economic impact that I fear will also impact giving to those that have been in need. When there is a huge need for support of those that have lost there jobs right around you it seems challenging to be asking for money to send overseas for wells. The world challenges of poverty and access to clean water didn’t go away when the virus hit, those needs are still very much there and now more needs have been added on top. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRunEarly Tuesday Morning Training Run For Clean Water
It’s a strange thing comparing your hot midday run to your cool early morning. I would have thought that I was going to knock my pace out of the park this morning but alas no. I have to believe that my lack of rest last night was a major contributor. The interesting thing was seeing my heart rate drop to the low to mid 130s during miles 5 & 6. I can only attribute that to my shower pace during those miles while I was pretty focused on prayer for family, friends, and those needing water in Sierra Leone, like the village of #Ronkorhun. Today’s training run was an intense interval run that pretty much required my complete focus. I only had 30 seconds to “recover” between my 6 minute long 8 minutes/mile pace intervals, and there were 8 of those. I had quite a few misses, and I was short on my final distance by about .02 miles, but overall I still knocked it out with a good time. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun
