A Verse That Describes The Church In Kathirie Sierra Leone

“They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity.” – 2 Corinthians 8:2 NLT

This morning at Daybreak this verse was one that was part of Pastor Wes’ message. As it was being read I instantly began remembering my experience at the Sunday morning service in Kathirie. As I watched the church members give the morning offerings, giving not only to the general offering but also to a building fund and missions, I could only think about the amazing work God was doing in the village.

    Final Day in Sierra Leone And Heading Home

    Saturday was our last day in Sierra Leone. Ron, Terry, and I started off the day with a short 3 mile group run. It was pretty hot and humid. After showering and breakfast we headed to a market in Freetown. As we we’re on our way we we’re briefly stopped by a small parade or sorts, complete with a marching band. Our driver’s took us to a market that was in a building that had 2 floors packed with vendors. We all did a bit of haggling and purchased some items to bring home to friends and family.     What’s Up With Me Today…

    Of course, anyone that read my blog earlier, or will read my earlier post, will know that my day started out kind of crappy. Let’s just say that my mind and emotions got the better of me. Thanks to God for great friends and encouragers. I’m not sure if perhaps Caristy read my blog and told John to invite me out with the seminary students for lunch but it made a huge difference in my day. I won’t doubt that this was just God at work.     Unfortunate News…

    So I didn’t get a blog entry in yesterday. Oh well, not much went on. I spent a good portion of the day trying to work out wireless issues. I won’t go into the details, however, ended up spending time today working on it too. I guess it’s back to the drawing board on this one. I’m going to need to do some more research into this. So I got two rather unfortunate emails today, both from my Mom. She’s going to be leaving our home church and finding a new church. This has a lot to do with everything that went on with Masha and how too many people at church didn’t understand. Things were very hard for my whole family. People at church…

    Well a little more time has past since my last blog post. I actually had an idea the other day about starting a picture of the day posting, along with a brief highlight of the day. It would be a way to give you a little visual into this new point in my life, and a way to get some regular updates going again.
