Expanding The Meaning Of Running For Water

So this morning, after making it about a quarter of a mile from home, I realized I had forgotten to grab my water when I walked out the door. At that point I really didn’t feel like going back home and starting my run over. The first half of the run was OK, but the second half was a bit more of a struggle without my water, making my #Run4Water mean even more than normal. As I continued through my run, #WhyIRun was at the forefront of my mind. My struggle doesn’t even compare to the daily struggle for clean water that those in Sierra Leone, Africa face. I had the benefit of a virtually unlimited supply of water waiting for me after the run….

Just Another Half Marathon For Clean Water

The long training run for this day was just another 13 miles, which of course I made a half marathon by squeaking in the last 0.1 miles. On Saturdays that I don’t have early morning family commitments, or that I’m out of town, my goal is to get my miles in before the start of the #HWI group run. I love to hang out with the community even if I don’t get to run with them. I love to hear how Hope Water is impacting our running group as we are working to impact Africa with clean water. #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Help Bring Clean Water to Africa: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

Managing A Late Start Interval Run

This morning had an off start. After waking up and looking at the time I realized I had forgot to change my alarm the night before and I had woken up an hour late. I tried to get myself out the door as soon as I could but I knew there was no way I was going to get the 8-9 miles in that my training plan called for. On top of that it was an interval training run. I decided to just follow the intervals but cut the run short in order to get back home at a decent time. I did manage to get just shy of miles in, even though I had some tough going intervals. When you throw the major wind…

A Run Focusing On The Physical Needs Of Others

Had a sluggish start this morning, but I pushed myself and got things improved my the end of my run. I did miss most of the rain, just got caught in some sprinkles during the last quarter mile. Most of my focus though was on those I know that have physical needs, including our Enable The Children sponsored child. It seems that the physical needs in our world almost match that of the spiritual need. And yet we see time and again that God uses those physical needs to bring people into relationship with Him. Most of need a jolt every now and then to help us remember what’s most important in this life here. #HWI #ETC #EnableTheChildren #GRMarathon #Run4Water #WhyIRun
