It’s Late…But a Couple of Updates.

This is going to have to be short, I need to get ready for bed. Life’s been pretty great, but busy too. Vanessa and I have been busy planning wedding details and starting to get things ready at her place for me to move in. It’s tax season and I got my taxes all done and submitted last week. On the bad side my MN taxes are under review I guess, just got a not about it today. It doesn’t say that I’m being audited , but they sent me a questionnaire about my MI residency, perhaps they couldn’t believe that I’d think about moving to MI. :-P jk

Last week my PowerBook was sent off to Apple for a little repair. I also ordered a nice 160GB drive to put in it after it got fixed. I used a slick little app called SuperDuper! to do a full system backup. With my over sensitivity to security I went a little crazy a removed all my important documents, passwords, keychains, etc from the machine before it was shipped off. I just got it back today and began the process of restoring my full backup and prepping the new drive. I decided to do a new install of Mac OS on the new drive and then a migration of all my data and apps to the new install. It’s working away and hopefully will be ready for the surgery. It doesn’t seem to major to take the machine apart, just need to keep track of all the screws. There are some great guides at ifixit.com.

Just Another Quick One

So it won’t be long, of course it’s getting late again. Well I think I can count like 5 books I’m now in the process of reading…probably going to add another couple more before the month even starts I think. I’m sort of overwhelmed, but at the same time I’m kind of happy to actually be doing some reading. When I was a lot younger I used to read a lot. I remember buying books from the book clubs all the time. In those days I read some fantasy books, but I read a lot of mystery type books. Some of those that topped the list were the Hardy Boys and books that had X-Files type stories in them. The books I’m reading now aren’t anything like those but they are still excellent reading. Perhaps after this pile of books is read I may pick up a sci-fi, fantasy, or mystery book.

Work was good for the most part today. Actually two of my afternoon meetings got rescheduled, but it turned out that was a total God thing, as I had a lunch meeting that would have cut into those meetings. I think I’m seeing the end of the new online giving system I’m building for work. I’m hoping to flip the switch this Thursday, we’ll see, I may have to give it another week for testing. I really don’t want to push it out the door too quickly and have something go wrong. I already did get a funny error from IE about something being transmitted unsecurely and that has me a little worried. However the very thought that IE wouldn’t have a problem seems rediculious anyway, lol. Did I ever mention that I HATE Internet Explorer? I guess if it wasn’t bad then perhaps all things Apple wouldn’t look so much better. :-P

The Time Has Come…

Well, for those that have long awaited a post to thie fabulous blog, here we go. This will probably be a short one. So much has been going on since my last post, actually a lot happened through December that I didn’t even get time to write about. I’m really looking forward to life settling down a bit.

The first day of youth group begins tomorrow, and we had are first youth praise team meeting today, since Christmas that is. Tonight we just came up with a list of songs we want to do this winter/spring. I’ll be putting together the set lists and get them all the songs. I’ve even created a schedule that will be available online as well. I’m looking forward to getting back into the swing of things with the youth. We had a really excellent youth leaders this past Saturday that really put some things into perspective for all of us I think.

Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.

(Proverbs 27:1-3) What a day today was. Surprises at every turn. So this morning I used my “snow blower” for the first time. I’m sorry to say (Mom & Dad :-( ), that that thing is not much more than a gas-powered shovel. I think I could have do it by hand faster. Well, can’t complain about the price I guess. Got to work with an unplowed parking lot, but behold there was 1 clearly open spot for me to park, yeah! It was nice to have gotten up at 5:30 again. I was feel pretty good today, pretty much back to my old self.

Well after continuous looks at the UPS package tracking it appeared that I wouldn’t get my new PowerBook until tomorrow. Well wouldn’t you know it, I got back from lunch and there sitting on my desk was the box, simply amazing. I began the process of trying to get all my stuff I had on the old machine onto the new one. It went ok, but I did have a hang up that I had to resolve by doing a system update/install. It sort of appeared like the system has 10.3.7 installed on it rather than the 10.4 it came with. Well it all got resolved and my system is pretty much back to where I had things before. All my apps seem to be running pretty good. I’m getting used to this new machine nicely.
