iTunes 5 Not Ready for Prime Time…

So I got home tonight and wanted to checkout the news from Apple today. I saw the ads for the new iPod Neo and the iTunes phone. I also saw that there was a new iTunes 5. I went to Software Updates and upgraded my iTunes, I’ve done this in the past without problems. Well it totally messed up my iTunes Library along with my Podcast subscriptions. Popped on over to the Apple Forums and of course a lot of people are having this problem. Well I made the decision to revert back to iTunes 4.9. It took a little but to track down an iTunes 4.9 installer. Got it downloaded removed iTunes 5, along with all my iTunes receipts, and restored my iTunes Library file. After installing 4.9 everything is back to normal.

So for people that need it here’s the iTunes 4.9 download and the steps I used to restore my Library. (Mac Only)

1. Download the iTunes 4.9 installer.
2. Run “Activity Monitor” found in /Applications/Utilities/, quite the iTunes Helper process.
3. Remove iTunes 5 from your Applications folder.
4. Move all the iTunes* files from /Library/Receipts/ to a backup folder.
5. Move all iTunes Library files to a backup folder. (this is not your music file organized folders, just the XML and “iTunes Library” files.
6. Keep a copy of the “iTunes Library (Damaged)” file in your iTunes folder. Rename it to “iTunes Library”.
7. Run the downloaded iTunes 4.9 installer. Follow on-screen instructions.
8. Run iTunes 4.9, and you should have your Library restored.

  • Podcast Site Development Begun…

    Well, the domain name (https://www.faithshaping.org/) has been setup, and an initial site has been created. I won’t probably be getting back to the work on this for at least another week. I hope to have the two final projects I’m working on finished up by then. I’m also hoping to have my new Podcasting gear by then, actually it may be here by the end of the week, we’ll see. I can’t wait to really get going on this. I’m not exactly sure how I’m going to fair as a radio personality type.

    Ok, so things at work were pretty good. I realize that my expectations of what I want to get done are perhaps slightly too high, and I get distracted easily which also prevents me getting done all that I want to. I’m certain that I’ve got some slight case of ADD. Todd took Bruce Stumbo & I out for lunch at God Father’s. Good pizza, and I got dessert pizza this time too! We talked about the FFP website project and how that was going. I explained that there could easily be enough work for me to do just web & IT work. They both of course agreed.     It’s Late…But a Couple of Updates.

    This is going to have to be short, I need to get ready for bed. Life’s been pretty great, but busy too. Vanessa and I have been busy planning wedding details and starting to get things ready at her place for me to move in. It’s tax season and I got my taxes all done and submitted last week. On the bad side my MN taxes are under review I guess, just got a not about it today. It doesn’t say that I’m being audited , but they sent me a questionnaire about my MI residency, perhaps they couldn’t believe that I’d think about moving to MI. 😛 jk Last week my PowerBook was sent off to Apple for a little repair.     Where’s The Line…Freedom in Christ or Good Witness

    (1 Corinthians 14:13-25) In my devotion time today, Paul was again talking to the church in Corinth about matters of witness to unbelievers and escentially the freedom found in Christ. The problem for the early church, and I would say that this problem has not gone away, was that for the unbelievers (or even weak or new in faith) there were things that they didn’t understand which easily turned them off to Christianity. The hard part comes in that God has called us, as Christians, to be different than this world.     The Time Has Come…

    Well, for those that have long awaited a post to thie fabulous blog, here we go. This will probably be a short one. So much has been going on since my last post, actually a lot happened through December that I didn’t even get time to write about. I’m really looking forward to life settling down a bit. The first day of youth group begins tomorrow, and we had are first youth praise team meeting today, since Christmas that is. Tonight we just came up with a list of songs we want to do this winter/spring. I’ll be putting together the set lists and get them all the songs.     Switchfoot Fights DRM!

    In a story the came out earlier this week. One of the band members of Switchfoot was expressing his anger about the DRM the was put on their latest album. The DRM encoded albums were preventing people from ripping the CDs for use on portable medai players. He was posting instructions on how to circumvent the DRM. Well Sony & EMI have announced that they are recalling the CDs and replacing them. EMI says that it was a mistake. Let’s give it up for Switchfoot!
