I Am Blessed To Be Able To Run

Short easy 5 mile training run this morning. My focus this morning was on the Jon Martinson family and the people of Sierra Leone. I can’t begin to know what it’s like to lose a spouse or parent at a young age. It’s hard to believe that a man I worked alongside for years, and was always way healthier than me, is facing his last days. As for Sierra Leone, last night I happened to catch a little montage video of my trip, back in May, that Google Photos made. It brought back so many feelings from my time there. I hope that I can return again. I’m also thankful to be a part of improving life there.

    Short Easy Tuesday Training Run

    The #Endomondo training plan called for a short easy run this morning, which really meant for a much slower pace then I ended up averaging. Of course I started out on the right track but as my running time increased so do my speed. It still felt easy, and my heart rate reflected that. The real take away is that I need to work on controlling my pace. I’m pretty sure I can’t sustain that sort of pace for a full marathon.     Christmas Eve 10K+ Training Run

    Enjoyed a run with some light snow falling. One challenge was that when I started things were clear, with no snow in the forecast, but a couple miles into the run the snow started and I noticed many slick spots on the sidewalk. And wouldn’t you know I had decided not to wear my cleats. I surprisingly still finished with a pretty solid average pace. I haven’t really ran in much for significant weather yet this winter. We’ll see what Minnesota brings to my runs next week while visiting family. I get a lot of comments about not “taking a break” from running. And I don’t discount the concern people may have that I’m pushing myself towards injury. The reality of it though is that…
