A Late Night 5 Mile Saturday Run at the Campground

It was a pretty cool late evening run from the campground out and back. I missed my Thursday run but was glad to be able to get my 5 miles in today.

    Eating Right For Running

As my wife and I have been on a journey of eating healthy, and being more active, I’m always interested in ideas for new recipes or things to try for snacks/meals/etc. Following some of the activity tracking app blogs or other runner blogs is always a good source of ideas. 4 Recipes for Runners: Eat Right – Run Better https://www.runtastic.com/blog/en/nutrition/4-recipes-for-runners-eat-right-run-better-2/ https://www.runtastic.com/blog/en/nutrition/dairy-free-carrot-walnut-cookie-recipe/

    5K Number 5… Feeling Great!

I was pretty frustrated with my pace after yesterday’s run. I had a ton of support and encouragement from the HWP Team and I was super excited to see my results today. I paid close attention to what I was doing today, as compared to the previous day, and made adjustments and I saw the difference. Now I need to just stay the course with my consistency and see where it leads me. 🙂 [endomondowp type=’workout’ workout_id=’859898904′ ] Pro Gym, Jenison, Michigan
  • Making The Best Of A Rainy Weekend Camping At Jellystone, Fremont-IN

After a rocky start to the weekend on Friday we did our best to make the most of a rainy weekend at the Jellystone Campground in Fremont Indiana. We started off Saturday morning with our big breakfast meal. After breakfast, and a little fishing, we took in a train ride around the campground. After our lunch we did some more fishing, of course. Both the kids enjoyed fishing, especially when they kept getting bites. The nice part is that the pond was catch and release, and the kids really didn’t care how big the fish were. On Sunday the rain had mostly cleared out so we took in a lot more activities, including a wagon ride where the kids got to see some of the…

    Nailing The Saturday Long Run

This morning I really just ran to the worship music and went at the pace that felt comfortable. I’m pretty blown away to see how much I improved my pace in just a couple of weeks, where I finished with a 9:50 min/mi pace. I think the most enjoyable part of my run this morning was just being pleasantly surprised by the next worship song. When the next song came on I just got into a zone of focusing on the music and running in time with it. I loved it. When I run in the morning it has 2 main purposes for me, the first is to have a conversation starter to make people aware of the huge need for wells in Africa, and…

Training During The Winter, Treadmill Alternatives

So up until the end of December I’d been sticking out running outside. Since the snow began to fly I’ve taken things indoors on the dreaded treadmill. 😉 Currently the treadmill running has been thanks to a great 3-month deal on a gym membership. Once we move into our new house in February/March I’ll be on our own treadmill, which we picked up cheap(used) before Christmas. I’m planning on joining some of the Hope Water Project – Team Daybreak group runs starting this Saturday, which brings me to considering what it means to run in the cold. I came across this Runner’s World post today that has many ideas on ways to keep training in the Winter months, or cold climates. I think the most…
