Using the Tough Runs for Motivation, Training Is All About the Ups and Downs

Despite another night of not sleeping well, and a late night on top of that. I managed to drag myself out of bed and get out and run. Even better I managed to challenge my best 5 mile time in the past few weeks as my goal to beat, and I managed to beat it by a more than a minute.

Most runs aren’t going to be a PR, or a finish that feels great. Some days it’s going to feel like you’ve never ran a mile in your life. All of those hard days are just days where you body is adapting to your running, and every one of those hard days helps to make the good days that much better.

Clean Water Brings Safety To A Community

Imagine this picture take during the rainy season with a rushing creak under this bridge. That is just one of the many dangers that children, on the trek to water, face each day. When water isn’t easily accessible to a community most often children are tasked with making the journey each day to gather a container of water for their families. A new locally available water supply helps keep kids safe in Africa. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Donate to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

    11 Frosty Beard Miles

Today marks the last of my longer training runs as the taper begins before marathon day. The temp this morning was in the high teens which resulted in a pretty frosty beard. I ended up pushing things a little harder than the training plan called for, but I was trying to make it back home at a decent time. I ended up a bit slower the second half because I pushed things a bit harder than I should have, but that’s just the way it goes. I finished the last half mile strong though. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus Give clean water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

    A Hard Journey For Water

Next time it think I’ll be sure to wear my visor to keep the rain off of my glasses.

    First “Long Run” of 2021

Started of this new year with a 10K Saturday “long run”, as my training plan called it. It was a tough run. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun #Hello2021 #NewYear I can tell that this past year has taken a toll on my health. Unfortunately I’m a stress eater. I think food has always been something that I’ve used to feel good. Of course, when you live a pretty sedentary lifestyle, that causes weight gain and I struggled with that for many years. I haven’t gained all of the weight back that I lost a few years ago, staying active and running has helped with that. However, my eating habits this past year started to regress. I need to get back in track this year. I signed…

Kicking It Into High Great After A Day Of Rest

After taking the previous day off due to lack of sleep I was more than ready to go this morning. So much so that I was pretty much in a comfortable high gear for most of the run. It helps to be rockin’ the worship music right along with my run. I have to give credit to those longer hard speed work training days too. I’m still looking for a few more people that might consider donating to wells in Africa as the year comes to an end and Christmas approaches. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus Donate to Water – https://timn.me/2t9D4ne
