A Hard 5 Mile Tempo Run That Fell Off The Rails

Well, my attempted tempo run kind of fell flat. Let’s just say that regardless of how tired I was yesterday morning I shouldn’t have let the Friday race allow me to think that I would be OK with not getting my Monday 4 miles in. I’m sure not going to be skipping my Thursday run otherwise I’ll probably finish terribly come the Friday race.

    A Brutal Winter Run

Wow, that is all I can say about the weather this morning on my run. Between the freezing rain pelting me, the massive wind gusts, and the snow-covered sidewalks that reduced my traction to almost zero, let’s just say I felt like I ran 12 miles not just shy of 6. I laugh because today was supposed to be an easy run day, and with that pace you might think I took it slow but that wasn’t really what went down. Mornings like this make it hard to focus on much else than the will power to keep going and get it done. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun

DNF 14 Miles, Winter Won Today

Some days you have a hard run, then there are some days where your it’s just brutal. Today the deep coat of fresh snow got the better of me. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus I was even doing my best just stick with my training plan running pace of 11:01/mi, but that wasn’t enough to get me through it. After 10 miles I just need to rest, which was only 2.5 miles after I had started up again running with the Hope Water team for maybe a mile before we parted ways. It’s tough having a day like to day knowing that in 2 weeks I’m supposed to be running a marathon (26.2 miles for those that don’t know).

Seeing, And Meeting, The Needs of Others

Responding to the Needs of Others Around You I have, at times, been cognizant of the needs of those I’ve been in connection with. Most often the help has come by way of financial assistance. There have been other times that non-financial needs have arose and I’ve responded, but those times seem to have been in the minority. Being Intentional About Seeing, And Meeting, The Needs of Those Around Us We are called to not only help our brothers and sisters in Christ, but to help all those in need around us. I’m reminded of the book the 10 Second Rule. There are so many needs all around us. How often do we simply turn a blind eye all because of our own selfish desires?…

Starting Off Slow, Then Getting In A Groove

For the first 4-5 minutes it felt like it was going to be a slower day, but after getting the first mile under my belt things turned around. From there on I just slowly kept picking up the pace. This has been pretty typical with how my runs have been going. Hoping to get another couple longer runs in before my running break. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon

How Often Do We Use Water?

In the U.S. pretty much everyone has running water where they live. How much water do we use in a day? Showers, meals, washing dishes and clothes, using the bathroom, watering the flowers/garden/lawn, making coffee/tea/other drinks. What if you had to walk 2-5 miles to get a jug of water, maybe even river or pond water? Can you imagine what it would be like to have clean, drinkable, water just down the block? While we might still consider having to go even a block to get more water and inconvenience, think about the life change close access to clean water actually makes in the lives of those that don’t have it. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Give The Gift of Access to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr
