I knew it was going to be a tough run going it alone, then when I stepped out the door and felt the heat and humidity there was no doubt I was going to have a rough go of it. #HWI #KCC #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRHalfMarathon #RiverBankRun
Since I had family stuff going on in the morning I had no choice but to get up early, 4:45am in fact, to get my run in. I would have like to have just finished up my run in time for the Hope Water group run gathering at Johnson Park but I just didn’t have time to do that and be ready to head out with the family.
I’ve always worked to ensure that my running doesn’t take away from my family, or at least as little as possible. The actual race days usually mean time away from the family, which is also why I keep the number of races to a minimum. There is the financial aspect of races as well so I also need to make sure my running isn’t impacting the family financially. I love it when my family is able to come out to a race and support me. My kids know #WhyIRun so that also helps to reduce any negative impact my running could have on the family.
I got my miles in, despite the heat and humidity, and in time to head off with the family and support my son while he tests for his next Tae Kwon Do belt.
