Pushing Through An Early Morning Saturday 13.1 Mile Training Run
I haven’t posted a run selfie in awhile, but I just wanted to a face to all the running once in awhile so people know in really out there putting the miles in. ? Needless to say, just like anyone else, today was one of those especially tough runs. It doesn’t matter where you are at in your running you will have those tough run days. You know ones where you feel like it’s an uphill battle the whole way. Rest assured though, you’ll get through it and then you’ll have one of the best runs you’ve ever had and you can be thankful that you pushed through those hard days. I encourage every runner to start every day as a new day and just…
Monday Morning Recovery Run
What started out being a pretty easy going run turned out to be much faster than I had expected. I was checking my heart rate the whole time and only once did it rise just a hair past 150. My pace just ended up being what it was based on how I ended up doing with my heart rate. What’s encouraging to me is to see what appears to be my heart health getting better. I feel God has definitely blessed me through my running. Honestly, one of the big helpers with my runs is listening to a worship workout album. There are moments when I am so focused on the song that I forget about the running. I did take some time this morning…
April Snow And Frosty Beard
Ha, winter is back and so is the frosty beard. A little wind but despite the snow it was a good morning for a run. #hwi #frostybeard #training Hudsonville, Michigan, United States of America
An “Easy” 5 Mile Recovery Training Run
Decided to hit some of what used to be a pretty regular route for me. I still tweaked it a bit though. Today was supposed to be an “easy” run but it was more of a “comfortable” run for me, basically if I was comfortable running a sub-8 minutes per mile then that is what I ran. Perhaps it could be considered a fartlek run I guess. However, with my typically inconsistent running pace ever run I do could be considered a fartlek run. Ha. I did also enjoy a shorter run listening to a worship music running set. I wish there were more of those with some more recent music. I spent some time thinking about my former ministry cohort John Martinson and his…
Providing More Than Just Clean Water
I’m getting closer to my goal, only $255 to go. Partner with me today to bring clean water to another 14 people. https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Putting in a well in a village in Africa is not about just dropping a handout to people and then moving on. A well is the start of helping a village help themselves. The responsibility of the well, and the well-being of the village, is on a team of leaders from the village. A real example of the saying, “Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and feed him for a lifetime.” It was a pretty good recovery run today. I was happy to have such a good pace after…
A Brutal Winter Run
Wow, that is all I can say about the weather this morning on my run. Between the freezing rain pelting me, the massive wind gusts, and the snow-covered sidewalks that reduced my traction to almost zero, let’s just say I felt like I ran 12 miles not just shy of 6. I laugh because today was supposed to be an easy run day, and with that pace you might think I took it slow but that wasn’t really what went down. Mornings like this make it hard to focus on much else than the will power to keep going and get it done. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun
