    4th 5K…Struggling With My Progress

Since I had more time today, day off today, I took an extra 4 minutes to cool down. Lost the full stats but caught my average minutes per mile to be 10. Feeling a bit frustrated with that average given that my best average to date was 9:31min/mi, just a week ago. :-/ I feel like I’m getting worse not better. Need to figure out what’s going on. Maybe I’m just expecting too much. [endomondowp type=’workout’ workout_id=’859517296′ ] Pro Gym, Jenison, Michigan

Feeling Like An Intense 5K Run

As I hit the pavement this morning I felt like just kicking into high gear for the entire run. I’m not quite sure that it was an overall lifetime #PR for a #5K but I’m pretty sure I finished better than more recent 5K times. What’s crazy is that it wasn’t like I had gotten extra sleep last night or had taken some time off running. I know turning on the new Christian Workout/Running playlist helped. Maybe since I’m on the taper for the marathon, and the miles aren’t as high, I’m just feeling like I have more energy. I won’t be pushing it this hard tomorrow as Thursdays are usually the intense interval run days and I need to make sure I don’t wipe…

What You Say Is A Reflection Of The State Of Your Heart

The function of your mouth is a product of the things that dwell in your heart. In order to tame your tongue, you must first examine your heart and get it right with God. #JamesChallenge James Challenge In this age of social media I’m seeing far too often where people, and especially those that claim to be Christians, spewing words they have no business putting out for all the world to see. Long ago I made to decision that if I what I have to say is not uplifting or helpful I’m not going to share it. Now a post like this could be debatable in that regard, but I’m also not afraid to share God’s truth. As Christ followers we are called to a…

    Final Week Before Marathon Day

I hit my $1000 fundraising goal but there are many other team members still working to reach their goals. Partner with #HWI and help bring clean water to those in need. https://www.hopewaterinternational.org/teams/49 #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon There are only 5 more days before the Grand Rapids Marathon, which will be my 4th marathon. This week the number of runs is winding down, with only a short interval run this morning. I’ll do another short easy run on Thursday. It’s hard to believe that the marathon is this week already. No matter how much I train I always still feel a little nervous going into a race. There are many on the team where this will be their first full or half marathon, and the good thing…

    It’s All About The Children

We began day 3 at the World Hope offices of course. As we’ve hung out at the offices, and been driven to villages, we’ve had the opportunity to get to know many of the nationals that work for World Hope. It’s been a blessing to have people that are willing to be patient with us as we’ve tried to learn about the culture and learn to better communicate. We left the World Hope offices for a quick stop at the village of Bomballi Bana, where World Hope has been working since 2010. They worked with a church partner to assist with the development of the schools, church, and of course putting in a well. It was so awesome to see how well the students were…

Virtual 5K Group Run For Clean Water

Yesterday, was the #HWI annual 5K group run, though this year it was “virtual” since we can’t gather yet. It’s definitely not the same to just gather for a video call and then run on your own. Missing hearing the bells ring as I cross the finish line. Looking forward to the day when we can gather again. #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon #RiverBankRun Give to clean water: https://timn.me/2020HWI
