Knocking Out 14 Miles For Clean Water

This past week I was reading a YouVersion devotional written by a marathon runner. The author talked about the point during the marathon when we are faced with the question “why am I doing this?”. This can also happen during those tough training days.

Today was a good day, but on a long run the question of why can still pop up. Why did I wake up a 5am on a Saturday to run 14 miles? The reason for me is 3-fold. First is the mission to continue sharing the need for clean water. Second is do my best to stay active and healthy. The third reason is to be an example to my kids, and by getting up early I’m also not taking time away from my kids. My point is to show my kids the importance of being committed to a mission, but also not at their expense.

    Battling The Cold And Wind

It was a tough early morning training run today. I can definitely tell that I haven’t eating well and getting enough sleep lately. I really need to reevaluate what I’m doing outside of my training runs if I’m going to even hope to complete another marathon. I enjoyed the worship time I had, which was one the major things keeping me going. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus

    Short Easy Tuesday Training Run

The #Endomondo training plan called for a short easy run this morning, which really meant for a much slower pace then I ended up averaging. Of course I started out on the right track but as my running time increased so do my speed. It still felt easy, and my heart rate reflected that. The real take away is that I need to work on controlling my pace. I’m pretty sure I can’t sustain that sort of pace for a full marathon. During my run I was reminded of the friends and family I know with medical needs, and lifted them and their families up in prayer. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Donate to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

8.5 Miles, It’s About The Purpose Not The Pace

Will you help make clean water a reality for children in Africa? Give today: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr #HWI Having been a runner for about 4 years now I know how easy it can be to get caught up in times, paces, and having a good race. Being a part of Hope Water is about #WhyIRun which ultimately is about having a platform to share about the great need for clean water around the world, and specifically Africa. This morning as I ran I felt like just putting enjoying the run and focusing on my #Run4Water instead of worrying about how fast, or slow, I was going. I still had a distance as my target, and that was really the only thing I was concerned with. I am…

Today Started Out Good, But Ended With Me Dropping Facebook Officially

This morning I ran 5+ miles. It was a great time of prayer and thinking of the people in Sierra Leone and being concerned that with #COVID-19 putting people out of work will raising money for more wells be put at risk. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun The day ended with me deactivating my Facebook account, with no real intent on returning, out of frustration with people that call themselves Christ followers, people that I once called friends. Their behavior towards the pandemic makes them appear like they have little regard for human life, or caring about others more than themselves. I think what’s even worse than jumping the Facebook ship is the fact that a lot of these people are also connected with my running group,…
