Sloshing Through A Wet Tuesday Long Run
Even though it had snowed the night before, it was a pretty wet run. When I got done my socks were soaked. One aspect of the slush that I don’t enjoy, besides the wet feet, is the buildup of ice that happens in my cleats and having to run with ice balls stuck to your feet. Today was another combo plan training run, #Endomodo distance and #HWI pace. Does that surprise anyone? Ha. It was nice to have things a bit warmer given the wind and rain. I don’t feel as soaked as yesterday but early in my run I felt like I was headed into a hurricane, especially when you see the rain moving horizontally. After making through the first half of my run I spent the 2nd half praying for the village of #Ronkorhun and the church that is supporting them. I also thought about all those from the #HlWI team that have incurred some sort of injury that is now preventing them from running. Lastly, my thoughts turned to my sister’s new family addition PJ, who was just…Back At It After A Long Weekend Break
It was a little bit of a struggle starting out this morning after having a long weekend of no running. Felt better by the end of my run. Through one of the worship songs this morning I was prompted to pray specifically for the father’s of Sierra Leone. There are many women and children that have been abandoned because of cultural stigmatism. Something that may not really be understood when people hear that #HWI helps to put in wells in Africa. The wells that Hope Water International partners with #WorldHope are drilled wells. These wells go down deep to clean water, and they overcome the challenges of the dry season. I’m on the taper part of my training as the #RiverBankRun approaches this Saturday. After not running for a few days I wondered how this morning would even go. It started off slow but by the end I was cruisin’. I managed to get another PR this morning which feels like a good place to be going into race week. Any time I end up missing some days of training I wonder what tole it will take. I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy a longer run today that included a solid runtime. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun
