Live 80s Music at the Daybreak Volunteer Celebration
I had the pleasure to join the regular staff at Daybreak and serve all our amazing volunteers. On top of that I enjoyed taking in an 80s music concert as well. I was in elementary school in the 80s so some would think that I would identify more with 90s music. It’s a both/and relationship for me, but for whatever reason I gravitate to 80s music. The following song was played last night and came up on my Google Play Music station this morning. For sure a 80s favorite. I need to do more crossfit exercises.My First Big Race, Fifth Third Riverbank Run
Today wasn’t my 1st race but it was the first big race with a lot of excitement and energy. I had the pleasure of running with a HWI Team Daybreak member, Scott Woody. We finished in excellent time given it was a first 10k race for both of us. I know that today was nothing compared to the experience of the Grand Rapids marathon with the full Daybreak crew. I had such an awesome time, and the feeling of accomplishment and energy as we came into the finish was unlike anything I’ve experienced before. Many are encouraging me to run the full marathon in the fall, including my wife. I have my reservations simply because I don’t want to over do it. I had a great day hanging out with my daughter on her class trip to the Outdoor Discovery Center in Holland. This is the first class trip, and first activity I’ve done with my daughter since she’s started school. I’m so thankful that I took the PTO to make it happen. I’ve only done 1 other thing, reading to my son Jacob’s class. I’m trying to do better at being more involved like this.
