Hoping to Get Back in The Groove…

Something that came up at our Life Shapes meeting this morning, was the subject of mission. This is something that I’ve been sort of struggling with, in that I’m trying to determine what my mission should be. I think this brings me back to the Purpose Driven Life. I have felt, for a long time, that my heart is for youth. This has been what has drawn me to my years working at Inspiration Point, and my current involvement with the Bethel youth. I’m not sure how the Missional Community of Faith and my heart for youth might be tied together. This is something that I’ll be looking for God’s direction in, as is life in general. Well, this is just s short post. Let’s hope I can get back into more regular posts.

    John Confirms Jesus

    (John 1:29-34) So, John didn’t know Jesus really, other than what God had revealed to him. However, the key things that God revealed to him was how he would recognize who Jesus was. We see here that Jesus came to John to be baptized. Even though, as far as John was concerned, he wasn’t worthy to baptize Jesus that is what Jesus required of him. He did this and then John saw first hand the Holy Spirit come down onto Jesus, and this was exactly what God had told John would happen. At that point John had no doubt at all that this was Jesus. He told everyone what he had been told and experienced.

    Putting Wood On The Fire

    Put more wood into the fire by accompanying your partner to his/her favourite place. – Day 1, Refresh Your Marriage In 31 Days I can definitely see that the busyness of life makes it more challenging to keep the “wood fires burning” of marriage. Marriage takes work and especially intentional action to keep plain selfishness at bay. If we would keep our focus on serving in our marriage then love would be more readily felt. I need to plan to be intentional about this each day.

    Another Year Older…

    Well, I’m now one year older at 27. I guess I’m kind of starting off this new year of my birth with some changes, LOL. I was able to get up at 5 this morning & be to work by 7. I ate breakfast, watched a little news, did some devotions. I was given a little celebration during break at work too! I was given a birthday balloon and a card from everyone in the office. It was nice to have my birthday be a little more than just another day. That was really the extent of it but it was the best birthday I’ve had in a long while. Some year it might be nice to actually have a party with friends. No biggy…

    Prayer, Worry, and Thankfulness

Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. – Philippians 4:6 NLT Prayer is not always easy for me, especially when I’m compelled to do it all on my own. We live in a world that perpetuates​ that thinking. Good wants us not only to bring Him our needs but wants us to come to Him with be thanks when things are going well. It’s easy to forget to go to God in the good times but that’s like never hanging out with your friends but just going to them when you need something.     In The Beginning

    (John 1:1-14) – John starts out describing a little about what the beginning was like. The Word was another name given to Jesus. It’s interesting that John starts out this way. It is very clear that the importance is placed on this description to setup the rest of the book. Jesus claimed he was God, was equal with God. The very fact that he also had the name of the Word and that these verses explain exactly was Jesus claimed is not insignificant. Jesus Christ always was and is equal to God the Father & God the Holy Spirit. John 1:12, this is a very popular verse.     Showing Love, Not Demanding A Life Lived Under The Law

    This morning it hit me, during my devotion time, how so many of us that claim to follow Christ get caught up demanding others, and ourselves, live under the law as a measure of whether you are a Christ follower. Our world is in disarray. As the church we need to embrace our world in love just as Christ showed the whole world. How we easily forget that Christ died for us while we’re still sinners. How then can we not follow his example and show that kind of love to our world?

  4. Hey Man,

    Life doesnt always pan out like we want it to, but I know that God definitely gave you a passion for mission. I know how hard it can be to have to wait on God for these kinds of things, but I think you alredy know that we learn just as much if not more while waiting on God for how He wants things to work out. Live each day knowing that you woke up for a reason to glorify God… in the end you’ll realize just how much your desire to be in missions has come true.
