We All Need Support From Others

Today God opened my eyes to the current state of my life, and the need for the support of people who love me. It can be the most humbling thing to ask for help, I have felt that tonight. My inability to say no, and my drive to please the world, have brought me to a place where many aspects of my life have suffered. I haven’t had the time needed for quality time building relationships that count. If committed to things and let people down. I’ve let the things that I’m doing push out my time with the Lord. I felt the affects of all of this.

I have two special people that love me and continue to look out for me. I’ve let that relationship suffer the most. This is something I can’t let myself do anymore. I feels so relieving and amazing to have friends that love you so much that they are willing to say the hard things, and at the same time be there to help you get back on your feet. These are the kind of relationships we all need, especially as Christians. This is the kind of Christian life I want to live. One where Christian brothers and sisters can feel free to say the hard things and be authentic. Where there isn’t a desire to cover up our sins and live fake outward lives. I think the life I crave so much is the perfect one God promises to us in heaven. It’s even in the downfall times like this that God can give us a glimmer of what we will experience in heaven with Him. Praise God!

One final note, I want give my deepest apolagizes to those of you that might be a reader and someone I have neglected. I ask for your forgiveness. And I pray that God will do His work in me to correct that.

  • I’m Bad With Relationships…

I just can’t seem to understand why I’m so bad with keeping good relationships. Is it so hard to just pickup the phone? I can only figure that I’ve been so used to have so much time on my own that when I’m not with Vanessa I just feel like doing my own thing. At the same time and can’t wait for the next time to spend with Vanessa. I can’t wait for our trip to MN to see so many that I haven’t seen for so long. At times I feel like I’m constantly torn between the relationships that I’ve seem to have left behind and trying to start new relationships here. I’ve never been very good with the whole thing of keeping in…

    Being More Social?

Well, I would say that basically I’m pretty social when it comes to being a geek. I can talk about more than just geeky stuff but give me someone that’s interested and I can definately talk geek. This is probably do to the fact that I listen to a ton of geek Podcasts. This reminds me that I need to put up some links to my Podcast favorites. I should really look at some other genres to add to my Podcast subscription list. Perhaps broaden my horizon a little. I do subscribe to a few of Christian podcasts and the President’s weekly radio address.

Devotions for Sacred Parenting #25: Stop Judging and Start Loving

“The sinful, selfish side of us truly wants and sometimes even expects a “perfect” child, but God doesn’t grant us “perfect” children in this fallen world—and even if he did, we imperfect parents would soon mess them up.” – Devotions for Sacred Parenting by Gary L. Thomas I’m pretty sure I’m not alone with finding myself in a situation with my kids where I’ve thought to myself “why can’t my kids just behave? What’s wrong with them?”. The second question is normally followed up with the fact that my daughter is special needs, and that’s the “problem”. However, as I continue to learn God is in the business of changing lives, and he’s sure working to change me. Every day I see areas that I…

  1. Wow. I read these things and think “I’m so lucky to have a friend like Tim.” You really are totally amazing. The things you write on here cause me to think about myself and how i spend my own time, how i need to have good Christian friends, how I need to be honest and upfront with them… and much more… You are someone I look up to. I don’t mean to put more weight on you. You don’t have to think you have to work to be a role model for me. Even in your “failings” you are someone I look up to. You are such a great guy Tim.
    Thanks

  2. I love how God gives us those friends that challenge us to do what God wants us to do in our lives. I’m very thankful for the people that do that in my life.

I have to agree with Anders though – in the short time I’ve known you, I’ve been impressed with your influence on so many people. I think most feel honored to be able to share life with you.

  3. I want to affirm your observations and our discussions (analog and organic) about your desire to create and protect space in your life for important relationships. Busyness (and our tendancy to not be able to say “no”) may well be the broadest path to lethargy and lukewarm spirituality – and especially to inauthentic living. Carry on!
