Focusing On The Distance Not The Pace
There is a reason the saying goes that “life is like a marathon, not a sprint” and it has to do with going the distance. Getting back to the basics of marathon training means focusing on slowing down and building up the endurance needed to finish well. If I’ve learned anything from this past year of training it’s that I lost sight of this fundamental part of training. If I have any hope of finishing well at the upcoming Groundhog Marathon I need to keep focus on that key piece of my training. Today I tried to keep that focus though I still finished with a much faster pace than my training plan directed. I’ll be working on that more in the weeks to come….

Another Running Milestone…20 Miles
I had the pleasure of running my peak 20 miles training run with this amazing community. The amount of support and encouragement that I’ve received is a huge contributor to bringing me to the 20 miles milestone today. I would have never thought a little more than a year ago I’d be training to run a marathon. Even up until the 53rd Riverbank Run 10K this past Spring I was only considering doing the half marathon. With the encouragement, and a little positive peer pressure ?, I decided to go for the full marathon. It’s been a long journey to get to today, and I’ve built some amazing friendships along the way. I don’t think I could have made it this far without my running…

Impacting The World And The Next Generations
Donate to Clean Water, Donate to the Future: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Putting in a well in a village in Africa doesn’t only provide for an immediate need, it also impacts future generations. Wells in Africa have the potential to change who the next president or prime minister could be, or the next Olympic gold medalist, or the next major entrepreneur that could change the economic structure. Clean water changes the world and the future. What are we going to invest in, gathering some things that won’t last, or impacting our world and future generations?

Clean Water Takes A Village
Bringing clean water to Africa takes a team, #HWI runners and supporters raising money for a well, the World Hope team to plan and drill a well, and a community in need that will be committed to care for the new water source. #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun Join us to bring clean water to Africa: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

Running To The Worship Beat
This week starts a switch up of my Monday and Tuesday running schedule. All I can say is that the Spirit was moving while I listened to the worship music. My run was pretty much kicked onto high gear but the whole time the music was speaking to right where I’m at these days. I know that no matter what today or tomorrow brings I can trust that God will be right there to walk with me through it. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun

Knocking Down The Intense Baseline Run
It was a pretty quick intense run this morning, just something to give #Endomondo a baseline for training plan adjustments. Not really much time to enjoy to think about much or enjoy the warmer weather. It’s OK to have one of those every once in a while. I wasn’t sure how today would go given I didn’t get my Tuesday run in after being sick Monday. Every day is a new day! #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun
