Keep Our Mind In The Right Place

Philippians 4:8 NLT

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. – Philippians 4:8 NLT

    In The Beginning

(John 1:1-14) – John starts out describing a little about what the beginning was like. The Word was another name given to Jesus. It’s interesting that John starts out this way. It is very clear that the importance is placed on this description to setup the rest of the book. Jesus claimed he was God, was equal with God. The very fact that he also had the name of the Word and that these verses explain exactly was Jesus claimed is not insignificant. Jesus Christ always was and is equal to God the Father & God the Holy Spirit. John 1:12, this is a very popular verse. It explains the truth that all those that believe in Christ and follow Him become apart of God’s…

We All Need Support From Others

Today God opened my eyes to the current state of my life, and the need for the support of people who love me. It can be the most humbling thing to ask for help, I have felt that tonight. My inability to say no, and my drive to please the world, have brought me to a place where many aspects of my life have suffered. I haven’t had the time needed for quality time building relationships that count. If committed to things and let people down. I’ve let the things that I’m doing push out my time with the Lord. I felt the affects of all of this. I have two special people that love me and continue to look out for me. I’ve let…
  • Congrats Peter & Becky…

Well, I headed down to the Twin Cities today for Peter & Becky’s wedding. I’m glad I gave myself plenty of time. I kind of got lost but still made it an hour before the wedding. I got to see some former camp staff I haven’t seen for awhile. It was fun to reconnect with people again. Greg & Janet sat next to me at the wedding and I got a little caught up on what’s been happening at camp more recently. The wedding was great. I do have to say though that weddings are getting hard for me. Genesis 2:18 was referenced a lot today, which is fitting for a wedding. However, for a guy in my situation, it’s a hard thing to listen…

    Life Without Internet…Wednesday

So back to Wednesday…it was a bit of a crazy day, as most Wednesdays are. I basically headed straight to church after work. I had Sunday Morning Worship Team practice before youth group. I started early with just Brad. It can be a real challenge for me as I’m not used to playing in more of a backup role on the guitar. I feel pretty clueless as to how to play. What didn’t help matters either was that a lot of the songs I either didn’t know or have never played on the guitar. (I’ve since remedy some of this by more practicing on my own, and I found a couple of the songs on iTunes as we play them. Thanks Passion Worship Band) The…

    Taking A Moment To Update…

Well, fine folks who have been patiently, or impatiently, been waiting for my next real post. I’m taking this time I have during lunch to give a little recap of what’s been going on in my life. I’ve been working to reduce the stress in my life and not take on anymore work. The only problem with this, it gives me time to fill. What have I decided to do with this free time, start a podcast. Many of you probably are aware of the podcast by now, if not check it out (https://www.faithshaping.org/). I am really enjoying doing the podcast. I’m almost feeling inclined to expand my podcasting. I’ve considered moving my regular text blog to perhaps even an audioblog, or at least take…
