This morning had an off start. After waking up and looking at the time I realized I had forgot to change my alarm the night before and I had woken up an hour late. I tried to get myself out the door as soon as I could but I knew there was no way I was going to get the 8-9 miles in that my training plan called for. On top of that it was an interval training run. I decided to just follow the intervals but cut the run short in order to get back home at a decent time. I did manage to get just shy of miles in, even though I had some tough going intervals. When you throw the major wind resistance and the crazy April snow, the conditions were less than ideal. Despite the challenges I got a decent run in. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun

As I hit the pavement this morning I felt like just kicking into high gear for the entire run. I’m not quite sure that it was an overall lifetime #PR for a #5K but I’m pretty sure I finished better than more recent 5K times. What’s crazy is that it wasn’t like I had gotten extra sleep last night or had taken some time off running. I know turning on the new Christian Workout/Running playlist helped. Maybe since I’m on the taper for the marathon, and the miles aren’t as high, I’m just feeling like I have more energy. I won’t be pushing it this hard tomorrow as Thursdays are usually the intense interval run days and I need to make sure I don’t wipe…
Old shoes had about run their course so I needed to get some new ones soon enough before the #GRMarathon to get them broke in. Trying a new model shoe. Striders was so helpful with helping me find my new shoe! #HWI #NewShoes
We got on our flight to Paris. It was nice to have most of us fairly close together on the flight. We had a short time in Paris at the airport. Got some coffee recharged electronic device and took a chance to get to know each other better. Mike likes to be the jokester of the group. I don’t think any of us got much sleep in on the flight from Paris to Freetown. Dawn beat me at a game of checkers on the in flight media system. Leaving the airport was quite the experience and spectacle. We had a large group of young men that insisted on helping us get to the World Hope vehicles. Curtis and I got to ride in the World…

Since we’re gone camping this weekend I decided to get my long run in before we left. I was thinking a lot about my experience in Sierra Leone while I ran, including those specific people I had the opportunity to meet. I miss being there and am a little saddened that I may not get back there again. I’m still processing my time there, and trying to better share small pieces of my experience with others. When I think of Sierra Leone and their struggles for #water the song #Africa by #Toto always comes to mind. #HWI #GRMarathon #Run4Water #WhyIRun #HessLakeRun Donate To Wells In Africa https://youtu.be/FTQbiNvZqaY Hudsonville, Michigan, United States of America
Another day hitting the road means more steps to more clean water for those in Africa. #HWI #KCC #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRHalfMarathon #RiverBankRun
