Tackling An Intense 30 Minute Thursday Run

Some days you just feel great out there running and some days you don’t. Today was the latter, but it was still intense, and I was really pushing myself. It’s days like today that I actually appreciate those hard days where it feels like you are barely moving and all you can think of is, “Am I there yet?”. I appreciate those days because I know that without those days, and overcoming them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I also know that especially on those days God was right there with me walking(sometimes literally) by my side helping me every step of the way.

As I spent time listening to the worship music and praying for my family and friends. I was also reminded of where I had been just a little over a year ago, and the greater purpose for my running. Thinking of the people of Sierra Leone Africa that I was honored to get to meet and know when I travelled there last year. I got to see first hand the struggles families have, but also the life changing difference access to clean water makes in the lives of families. I’m hoping that many will join me once again to expand the reach of clean water, and literally save lives millions of miles away.

A 5 Mile Training Run In The Face Of A Challenging World

As I ran this morning I couldn’t help but think about the impact that #COVID19 is having on our world and not just with those infected, having died, or those secluding themselves bin protection. There is the global economic impact that I fear will also impact giving to those that have been in need. When there is a huge need for support of those that have lost there jobs right around you it seems challenging to be asking for money to send overseas for wells. The world challenges of poverty and access to clean water didn’t go away when the virus hit, those needs are still very much there and now more needs have been added on top. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun

Taking On The Wet And Windy Tuesday Run

It was a kind of interesting morning, weather wise. There was some big thunder before 4am but when I got outside for my morning run there wasn’t much for rain, just some sprinkles and mist off-and-on. The wind came and went as well. The crazy thing once again is to see my pace improve of the course of my run. Instead of what one would normally see, where your pace might get slower over the course of a run, for me my pace got better the longer I ran. It was a good morning for a run all around. Only a few more weeks until the #RiverBank and I think I’m feeling good about my training so far. #HWI #WhyIRun #Run4Water

Picking Up The Pace With The Snow Cleared

With things warming up yesterday the roads and sidewalks got cleared pretty well. I was able to hit my interval training run paces quite easily. Looking back on the tough training week, I think it was actually a good thing in terms of getting an extra hard without to prepare me for today. I only have a couple of runs left in the training plan before the marathon next week, then it’ll be on to the #RBR 25K training. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun
  • Staying On Track With A Monday Recovery Run

Support Wells in Africa: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon We have been fortunate in the U.S. to have had running water in our homes, generally, for the past 80+ years. This sort of infrastructure is just not widely available in Africa. Where even most rural homes in the U.S. have had their own well available right outside their home. Imagine having to make a couple of mile trek for a small amount of water to hopeful get through the day. A well changes all of that for a family in Africa.

    Warming Up With The Pace

When you are a runner the colder winter temperatures are either a motivator or a demotivator. You are either going to be motivated to keep going, and keep warm, or you are going to be demotivated to not even step out the door. For me, most days my decision to run has little to so with the outside temperature, or weather. My decision usually depends on how tired I feel and if I want to go back to bed. Once I get out the door, then the outside temperature is my motivation for how fast I’m going to run. This morning the single digit temp helped me kick things up a notch. During my run, most of my thoughts were on the Sierra Leone team…
