Another Interval Training Run For Clean Water On A Brisk Thursday Morning

The number of children in Africa that suffer from lack of clean water is staggering. I’ve been to Sierra Leone and seen first hand the hardship the people experience when they don’t have easy access to clean water, and I’ve seen the transformation when they do.

    It’s All About The Children

We began day 3 at the World Hope offices of course. As we’ve hung out at the offices, and been driven to villages, we’ve had the opportunity to get to know many of the nationals that work for World Hope. It’s been a blessing to have people that are willing to be patient with us as we’ve tried to learn about the culture and learn to better communicate. We left the World Hope offices for a quick stop at the village of Bomballi Bana, where World Hope has been working since 2010. They worked with a church partner to assist with the development of the schools, church, and of course putting in a well. It was so awesome to see how well the students were…

How Often Do We Use Water?

In the U.S. pretty much everyone has running water where they live. How much water do we use in a day? Showers, meals, washing dishes and clothes, using the bathroom, watering the flowers/garden/lawn, making coffee/tea/other drinks. What if you had to walk 2-5 miles to get a jug of water, maybe even river or pond water? Can you imagine what it would be like to have clean, drinkable, water just down the block? While we might still consider having to go even a block to get more water and inconvenience, think about the life change close access to clean water actually makes in the lives of those that don’t have it. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Give The Gift of Access to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

A Little Sprinkle To Liven Up The Run

I wasn’t sure what I was going to end up running in this morning when the forecast called for rain. It really only ended up being a tiny bit of drops here and there, but I was prepared either way. It’s interesting what you get used to after awhile of running. There was a time that rain meant a treadmill run. These days, unless there is life threatening weather you couldn’t keep me inside. This morning while running I got to thinking about how much the world today seems to be trying to tear families apart. It’s very apparent that Satan knows that he can gain a foothold by attacking families. I see so many throw in the towel on their family all because they…

Another Successful Morning Overcoming The Desire To Stay In Bed, Completing 3 More Miles

It was a little harder to get myself out of bed this morning but I overcame the desire to stay in bed. It turned out to be excellent temperature for a run. Every step we take to as #HWI is another step closer to more clean water for those in need. #KCC #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRHalfMarathon #RiverBankRun

When A Run Turns Into A Fight, With Yourself

This morning wasn’t hard because of the weather, the terrain, or my physical state, this morning my run was consumed with a battle of my emotions and an ugly part of me that rears it’s head every now and then. Unfortunately, I spent little time during my run in worship or prayer, most of it was spent asking God to change my heart. I have struggled with grace taking a back seat when life gets tough, when I’m faced with the reality of an imperfect world. I quickly turn to frustration and anger. It’s a side of me that I’m ashamed of and generally ends up turning my thoughts against myself with feelings of negative self worth and the desire to just run away from…

A Little Farther, A Little Slower

This morning was really not even a full mile farther than Tuesday. Things were a little slower today but that’s just fine, it was still a good solid run. I really need to start working on a new training plan soon. I’ll have to wait to start a new training plan until I’m back I the swing of things after my surgery next week. I’m hoping that I don’t have to take too much of a break from running after my surgery, but we’ll see what happens. I’m still in the fence on whether I’ll be running the full marathon again this year or if I’ll be scaling back to the half marathon. I’ll have to make a final decision once I’ve recovered from my…
