A Nice Sunny Saturday Run

It was nice to get out just when the sun first came up for my Saturday run, and the temperature was just right too. It’s not too often I get to run in the daylight. There was a bit more people out at that time, than my normal 4-5am, so I had to switch sides of the street I was running on a couple of times.

Even though things seems tough at times with what we are dealing with I still don’t see it being as nearly as tough as what many in Sierra Leone face every day. In Sierra Leone there are few that could be working from home.

Running The 2018 Grand Rapids Marathon for Clean Water

This past Saturday I completed an 18 mile training run for the 2018 #GRMarathon in an effort to raise money for wells in Africa. Would you consider partnering with me? Donate Now – https://timn.me/2t9D4ne I’m about $350 away from hitting the $1000 mark, with another $1000 to go to hit my goal. Someone has stepped up to match all the money raised which means your gift will be doubled. #Run4Water #SierraLeone #Africa #CleanWater

    5K Number 5… Feeling Great!

I was pretty frustrated with my pace after yesterday’s run. I had a ton of support and encouragement from the HWP Team and I was super excited to see my results today. I paid close attention to what I was doing today, as compared to the previous day, and made adjustments and I saw the difference. Now I need to just stay the course with my consistency and see where it leads me. 🙂 [endomondowp type=’workout’ workout_id=’859898904′ ] Pro Gym, Jenison, Michigan

Reflecting On My Time In Sierra Leone

The TL;DR is: I am blessed more than I ever understood and I will make every effort to give thanks in all circumstances. Also, where God’s love exists there is always hope for something better. As I continue to process my experience in Sierra Leone Africa I can’t help but feel like I spent a week in another world. What I find simply amazing is that in a place so filled with hardship, and circumstances I can barely begin to comprehend, there are people that still manage to find joy, be generous, and show love and kindness to someone so very much unlike them. I chose this photo of children, not filled with smiles and laughter, but showing that theirs is a life of daily…

A Little Farther, A Little Slower

This morning was really not even a full mile farther than Tuesday. Things were a little slower today but that’s just fine, it was still a good solid run. I really need to start working on a new training plan soon. I’ll have to wait to start a new training plan until I’m back I the swing of things after my surgery next week. I’m hoping that I don’t have to take too much of a break from running after my surgery, but we’ll see what happens. I’m still in the fence on whether I’ll be running the full marathon again this year or if I’ll be scaling back to the half marathon. I’ll have to make a final decision once I’ve recovered from my…
