When I look back just 3 years ago it’s hard to believe that I would be awake at 5:45am cooling down from a 4 mile run. Even in my high school days I wasn’t a morning person, not saying that I am a morning person now. I honestly owe a lot to my wife and #HWI for their part in giving me purpose in my runs. 11 Frosty Beard Miles

Today marks the last of my longer training runs as the taper begins before marathon day. The temp this morning was in the high teens which resulted in a pretty frosty beard. I ended up pushing things a little harder than the training plan called for, but I was trying to make it back home at a decent time. I ended up a bit slower the second half because I pushed things a bit harder than I should have, but that’s just the way it goes. As I was running in the rain this morning it got me thinking about the hardship that the rainy season causes for many in Sierra Leone. Like those that work for Enable The Children, the children with disabilities ministry, and those that #ETC supports. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun It’s crazy to think that something like rain, which should be a blessing to a people in desperate need of clean water, could cause hardship. For many though, the rainy season makes it challenging to get around and do things like sell their goods at the market. A well also brings safety during the rainy season both from a health standpoint as well as from the risks of trying to gather water from moving water like streams. Help…

Starting Off The Week With A Long Wet Training Run

Despite the rain and chill, caused by a little breeze, it was decent enough to get out for a longer run. The weather was still a big motivator to keep going, which unfortunately caused my pace to be faster than what the training plan called for, but oh well. #Endomondo I enjoyed a run full of #worship music, but I felt so overwhelmed by the needs of friends and family, physically; emotionally; and spiritually, that it was very hard to focus and being very specific in my prayers. Perhaps this morning was supposed to be more about worship then bringing the never-ending mound of needs to Him. I’m still hoping to continue to raise money for more wells.
