Getting The Saturday Long Run Done

We all have those off days, for me today was one of those. The second half of my run was more challenging than last week. Given I PR’d for a half marathon I was surprised by today. I really can’t complain, I was supposed to be running a 9:40 min/mi pace. So in reality I was pushing when I shouldn’t have been. Some times I think about giving up the focus on pace and even getting faster and just go out and enjoy the run for what it is. I’m sure at some point I’ll get there, I’m just not sure if I’m ready to be at that place yet.

When you are running for almost 2 hours you have a lot of time to think. These days life seems crazy, and even overwhelming at times. My thoughts, and prayers, spanned a whole gamut of things from family, friends, work, side projects, and of course missing time with the HWI team. Things have just not worked out to join the team for Saturday runs. I’m usually getting up at 5-6am to get my runs done early. Hopefully it will work out again soon.

The Christian Responsibility to the Oppressed

    – These days there is a lot of talk about the less fortunate and especially the oppressed. It’s very clear from Scripture that as Christian’s we are to defend, and stand against the oppression that we see. To be clear, however, any stand that we make needs to follow biblical principles, not the rights that the world has made up. Unfortunately, following biblical principles is not how the world wants Christians to stand against oppression.

How Often Do We Use Water?

In the U.S. pretty much everyone has running water where they live. How much water do we use in a day? Showers, meals, washing dishes and clothes, using the bathroom, watering the flowers/garden/lawn, making coffee/tea/other drinks. What if you had to walk 2-5 miles to get a jug of water, maybe even river or pond water? Can you imagine what it would be like to have clean, drinkable, water just down the block? While we might still consider having to go even a block to get more water and inconvenience, think about the life change close access to clean water actually makes in the lives of those that don’t have it. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Give The Gift of Access to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

Some Days Are Just Tough Ones

Today’s run started off good but the second half was a tough to get through. It wasn’t a terrible training run but it wasn’t my best. When someone in Sierra Leone needs to make a trip to find water, there can be some good days, or some bad day. Those bad days, when clean water can’t get found, can be the difference between life and death. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus Help find clean water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr

Before The Sun Rises, My Time To Run

Only $375 to go towards my goal, only about $12 per day until #GRMarathon day on October 20th. Who’s going to help bring clean water to another 56 people in Africa? https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun My running photo for today is a pretty typical sight for me.It can be a rarity that I’m actually have the opportunity to run with the sun out. With the exception of some shorter runs with the Hope Water team on Saturdays, or a race, my time to run is generally early in the morning before the sun rises. Except for the fact that I’m not really a morning person, and would rather stay in bed than get up and run, I like the peacefulness of an early morning run….
