Just Another Saturday 13.1 Mile Run

The need for access to clean water in Sierra Leone hasn’t been met so why would my running stop. Every run I take gives me an opportunity to share about the remaining need for clean water in Africa. I also hope that my commitment inspires others. This holiday season remember those less fortunate and make an impact.

    A Nice Sunny Saturday Run

It was nice to get out just when the sun first came up for my Saturday run, and the temperature was just right too. It’s not too often I get to run in the daylight. There was a bit more people out at that time, than my normal 4-5am, so I had to switch sides of the street I was running on a couple of times. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun Even though things seems tough at times with what we are dealing with I still don’t see it being as nearly as tough as what many in Sierra Leone face every day. In Sierra Leone there are few that could be working from home.

An “Easy” 5 Mile Recovery Training Run

Decided to hit some of what used to be a pretty regular route for me. I still tweaked it a bit though. Today was supposed to be an “easy” run but it was more of a “comfortable” run for me, basically if I was comfortable running a sub-8 minutes per mile then that is what I ran. Perhaps it could be considered a fartlek run I guess. However, with my typically inconsistent running pace ever run I do could be considered a fartlek run. Ha. I did also enjoy a shorter run listening to a worship music running set. I wish there were more of those with some more recent music. I spent some time thinking about my former ministry cohort John Martinson and his…

Overcoming The Tough Interval Training Runs

After a couple of weeks of tough interval runs I finally nailed one pretty well. I think my take away is that when it comes to training, as with much in life, you are going to have hard days that you can barely get through. Those are the days you have to have in order to have growth and future success. So we need to celebrate the hard days just as well as good days. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus Donate to Water, to Life – https://timn.me/2t9D4ne

Being Thankful For My Health, And Focusing On Others

This morning I got myself to a place where I could honestly see that I was letting myself get wrapped up in my own pity party. I was losing sight of the opportunity to be thankful for my health and be focusing on those less fortunate. The big question came to mind of why I am running. Am I running for myself? Are my runs all about how far or fast I can run? It seems pretty obvious that I got myself far from where I should be. I turned things around this morning and spent some time in praise for how God has blessed me, and especially spent time lifting friends and family up in prayer that have bigger needs than me. #HWI #WhyIRun

What Difference Does A Drilled Well Make?

Something that may not really be understood when people hear that #HWI helps to put in wells in Africa. The wells that Hope Water International partners with #WorldHope are drilled wells. These wells go down deep to clean water, and they overcome the challenges of the dry season. During the dry season the hand dug wells, or holes like is pictured here, dry up and daily living becomes a struggle to make it to the next rainfall. #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRMarathon Donate to Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr
