Getting down to the end of the Thursday morning training runs, soon we’ll be tapering off as the #GRMarathon is only a few more weeks away. This morning we got so wrapped up in conversation that it seemed like the run was done before we knew it. That is one of the joys of running with others is that it becomes less about the run and more about the relationships. #HWI #Run4Water #WaterIsLife #WhyIRun Donate to Wells in Africa – https://timn.me/2t9D4ne I’m only about $165 away from the $1000 mark. We still have matching funds so every dollar is like two. You can easily make double the impact with your gift.
Spent the afternoon building a couple of 4’x8’x18″ raised garden beds. We’ll be getting them settled and filled with soil before winter so they’ll be ready for planting in the Spring. My son helped me with getting the corner 4×4’s cut and them helping me screw together one of them and a little of the second one.
It was a hard sluggish run that made it clear how out of shape I’m in. I have a lot of work to do this year if I’m going to even consider completing another marathon. #training #5K #marathon
This morning was not only filled with worship time but also some time of reflecting on the holiday and the joy of celebrating with family the birth of our Savior. I’m thankful for the day we had to put all of the challenges of recent days, weeks, and months aside and enjoy time together with family. The New Year is upon us and, as it approaches, I pray that God would continue to guide our family in fulfilling his plan. I also spent time thinking about the next Sierra Leone trip coming May, and the team God is putting together. I’m excited to see what He has in store. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus Donate to Clean Water – https://timn.me/2t9D4ne
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. – Philippians 3:13-14 NLT As I’ve entered into day 3 of my 5K training, more like day 2 but I’m sticking with the schedule, this verse reminds me that there is more beyond just the physical race that I’m preparing for. It’s easy for us to lose sight of how God is working in our lives, especially with how crazy our world is getting. I’m thankful for these reminders and the hope I have in…
I honestly don’t know what changed this week, but as far as my running goes I have felt great this week. Knocking out the runs with paces that have far exceeded my expectations. I’m not sure if this means my training schedule is too easy for where I’m really at or I am just pushing myself too hard. One would like to think that after training and completing 4 marathons that you would see some improvements. However, I’m getting older so that typically means getting slower, but I’m fortunately not seeing that yet. I would have to say that many of my fast runs this week have easily been affected by tuning into the worship running music I listen too. Instead of being the one…
