A Little Bit of Hill Training

I haven’t run into a race course yet that didn’t have some hills. When you are training it’s important to do some hill training if you don’t want to get caught off guard with hills during your race.

Between sidewalks and paved trails, we are pretty blessed with the conditions we have to run in. In stark contrast, for most in the road to water is dangerous. When a well is put in a village it brings the water to a safe place for all.

    Starting Off The Week With A Long Wet Training Run

    Despite the rain and chill, caused by a little breeze, it was decent enough to get out for a longer run. The weather was still a big motivator to keep going, which unfortunately caused my pace to be faster than what the training plan called for, but oh well. #Endomondo I enjoyed a run full of #worship music, but I felt so overwhelmed by the needs of friends and family, physically; emotionally; and spiritually, that it was very hard to focus and being very specific in my prayers.     The Keyword is “Since” Not “If”

    As a follow up to my previous post it’s important that we remember that everything we are called to do as a Christ follower is in the context of “since” and not “if”. What’s the difference? If we have the thinking, “if someone is doing ‘x’, or not doing ‘y’, they can’t be a believer”, we are basically inferring that someone has no faith or belief in Christ because of their actions. That’s a pretty big leap, and a sure fire way to further the view that Christians are righteous, judgemental, hippacrits, essentially modern day Pharisees.     Praying For Rain And Wells In Sierra Leone

    As I felt the light rain coming down as I ran I couldn’t help but think of #SierraLeone and the long drive season they, putting a strain on water supplies. I especially thought of the village of #Ronkorhun and their struggles for water. I continue to pray for the rains needed to grow their crops and restore their water supplies.     What Does It Mean When A Pandemic Hits A Country Already In Need

    As I ran another 5 miles this morning I couldn’t help but think about the added struggle #COVID19 is now causing in Sierra Leone. I don’t think anyone complaining about the U.S. hardships has even thought about the fact that we still have it pretty good compared to places like Sierra Leone. With all of our indoor plumbing we don’t have to think about travelling 2 miles to a crowded well to gather water. A country like Sierra Leone is between a rock and a hard place when any epidemic hits. How can anyone survive a stay-at-home order if they don’t have water at home for both drinking and sanitation. The only hope they have is organizations like World Hope, and other NGOs, trying to…
