Getting in Another 3 Miles for Clean Water

I’m not quite sure the recipe but I knocked things out of the park on Monday, today not so much. To be fair today was an easy run and Tuesday was a hard run. All things considered I got my miles in today and so that is still a win. Another day hitting the road means more steps to more clean water for those in Africa.

Slowing Down To Speed Up, Monday Run On The Dreadmill

In 5 weeks I’ll be running my 5th marathon and representing #HWI and spreading the message for the need of clean water in Africa. #Run4Water #WhyIRun #GRGus With such a short time for training making sure I’m following the plan is really going to be key to finishing well. In that light I took advantage of the treadmill today and set the speed to the slow pace today called for. Deciding to run on the dreadmill(treadmill) didn’t come easy but with the weather being rain & wind with a potential for snow, I decided it was best. Support Clean Water: https://timn.me/2Kx7NEr
  • Choosing To Run

This morning was one of those where after the alarm went off I had to convince myself to get up and get ready to run instead of going back to bed. I have never been a morning person, so for me to look for an excuse to stay longer in bed, instead of getting up at 4am, is no surprise. Every day is a series of choices and I’m glad today I won the battle between my bed and the road. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun

    Christmas Eating Recovery Run

Some people may not realize that I actually love food. One of my downfalls is also that I’m an emotional eater. That made the commitment to drastically change my eating habits no simple task. There were a couple of things that helped me stay the course on my journey to a healthier lifestyle. The first thing was that before the journey began I was diagnosed with #prediabetes, and if I didn’t make some changes I was going to have some major health issues in the future. The other piece was that my wife and I started that journey together. This made things like meal planning, and having healthy snacks on hand, a ton easier. There was a lot of holiday snacking going on this week,…

    A Brutal Winter Run

Wow, that is all I can say about the weather this morning on my run. Between the freezing rain pelting me, the massive wind gusts, and the snow-covered sidewalks that reduced my traction to almost zero, let’s just say I felt like I ran 12 miles not just shy of 6. I laugh because today was supposed to be an easy run day, and with that pace you might think I took it slow but that wasn’t really what went down. Mornings like this make it hard to focus on much else than the will power to keep going and get it done. #HWI #Run4Water #WhyIRun #RiverBankRun

Running In The Heat, And A Johnny On The Way

Some may ask, after a few years of raising money for wells, “why more wells?”. What most don’t even think about is both the pros and the cons of a new well in a village. You may be surprised to even think that there could be a downside to a new well in a village. A new well not only provides for a village but now there are those outside the village they will come because the water source is closer. Some may even relocate to a village because there is a new water source that is readily available. So the reality of it is that the more wells there are for people the less strain there will be on a village, in more ways…
