Can I Make A Weekly Update?

Well, so it’s been almost 2 weeks since my last post. I think I need to do something about this. In no way have I gotten tired of the whole blog scene, it’s just that my life has changed so much. I’m still finding my way back to something that feels normal. Everything here still seems pretty new. I remember that it took a few months for me to establish some normalcy my first year of college. Everything was brand new for me, and it was hard to begin with. Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t felt sad that I’m here, I do miss seeing so many people but I have been able to chat briefly with so many of you. If anyone ever wants to give me a call and chat I’d love it, drop me and email and ask me for my number if you need it. So, anyways I think I will be looking to try and schedule in at the very least one day a week for blogging. I thnk my biggest problem with trying to post daily is that once I get going my blog entries turn into rather lengthy posts. I guess I’ve pretty much always been better at processing my thoughts in written word than verbally, although I am working on that too. That also brings up another issue, and that’s of getting back to putting out my podcast. I haven’t gotten one out for I think perhaps 2 months now. I’m simply amazed at how so many other podcasters can come out with daily podcasts.

Well, so anyways, what have I been up to? Well, I don’t really have the time to spend right now going back over every day and detail. However, I’ll note some of the items briefly. During our first Tuesday team meeting I was praised to my boss, by a co-worker, for the contributions and ideas I was bringing to the team. On Sunday, I went to the beach with Vanessa’s parents, brother, and his girlfriend. Let’s just say that it’s hard to get comfortable in 57 degree water. (burr) It was kind of different to be going with them without Vanessa there, but I had a really great time with them. I do have to say I really like her family, and I’ve enjoyed getting to know them more and more. On Monday Vanessa was back, we had already planned to go out on a date that night. I took her to a really nice Italian restaurant, the food was great, and I loved to hear all about her trip. After dinner we walked next door to Cold Stone for icecream. (yummy!) It’s so nice to have her back. Wednesday, I made us sloppy joes, afterwards we went for a walk over at Hager Park and then we went swimming in a little lake not too far away. It was another great evening.

Ok, so Thursday I was really going to post on my blog cause Vanessa had done the most amazing thing for me. I had a pretty long day at work that day, actually it’s been a pretty long week cause of a project I’ve been working on. When I got home at around 6:45, I found all of these paper hearts on the ground (of different sizes and colors) leading to my bedroom. You can see the photos I took on my photo gallery. I opened the door to my bedroom to find a floor full of ballons and a big banner. In ever balloon she had put little notes of things that she loved about me. I had so much fun popping balloons and reading what she had to say. I can only say that it totally made my day, and made me feel like the most blessed guy on earth, to have Vanessa in my life. I quickly at my supper and headed over to Vanessa’s to give her the biggest hug I could and thank her. We ended up watching a movie, “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”, yeah so it’s a chick flick but I don’t care. Actually, I had already seen it before. I think it was on TV one time.

Last night we went out to a camping area where Vanessa’s brother Vince was at with a bunch of people from his church. They were younger people probably around our age I guess. He had invited us to come out for the weekend but were just weren’t up to it this time. I had a fun time playing a camp ground game (it’s got boxes with washers you toss back and forth) and getting to know some of the people there. We didn’t get home until around 11:45.

And so that brings me to today. We went shopping for groceries earlier, then I ate lunch, got the dishes done, and did some reading and now blogging here. We’re going to go see Pirates of the Caribbean this afternoon, then go for a late supper afterwards.

Well, I’m really enjoying my job and the people I work with. It’s been kind of interesting getting to know the guys I work with. It’s been not just about the work but also an opportunity to share about each others lives as well. I’m really approaching my job not as a ministry project or some place to evangelize, but some place where I can build some relationships that could open the doors to sharing further about my faith. Ok, that’s all for now. Cio!

  • Moved In And Lovin’ It

Well folks (readers/freinds) I’m am now know as a Michigander (as Vanessa would call it). I haven’t gotten a new drivers license or license plates on the car but I really do feel at home at the moment. I still need to get myself familiar with the area but I’ve got a map (thx Nessa!) and I’m pretty confident I’ll figure it out in no time. The move went pretty well, all except the long drive, and little sleep, between Thursday & Friday. Thanks to those of you that helped with all the packing and loading. Actually on Friday, on the way through Wisconsin, we got stuck for an hour on the Interstate, as a trucking hauling scrap metal dumped it’s load all over the…

Looking For Answers, Relying On Faith

We live in a world where people are always looking for answers. Sometimes the answers are beyond our understanding. That’s where faith takes over. “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord . “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” – Isaiah 55:8‭-‬9 NLT

Garbage In, Garbage Out…Life Is Work

To get good things out of your life, you have to first put good things in. [W]e don’t have a magic hat that allows us to pull something out of nothing. The positive character traits we seek can only result from a daily commitment to prioritize actions and decisions that please the Lord. I don’t know if it’s our American culture, our sinful nature, or something else entirely, but it seems that more often than not we want everything to be easy with little work or effort required. These lines from my devotional this morning speaks volumes into how we are to live, and how we shouldn’t be surprised when things don’t turn around so quickly for us. The reality is that pretty much all…
  • Overall Good One…

Ok, so things at work were pretty good. I realize that my expectations of what I want to get done are perhaps slightly too high, and I get distracted easily which also prevents me getting done all that I want to. I’m certain that I’ve got some slight case of ADD. Todd took Bruce Stumbo & I out for lunch at God Father’s. Good pizza, and I got dessert pizza this time too! We talked about the FFP website project and how that was going. I explained that there could easily be enough work for me to do just web & IT work. They both of course agreed. It’s too bad I can devote more time to that as there is so much more that…
  • Where Does Our Witness Begin?

As I sat here thinking about how to safely write my thoughts, I began to be reminded of the life of Christ and his actions. I’m thinking of how he was viewed by those around him. Is it not true that Christ did things that were against the culture of the times, or at least things that caused people to question his actions? He had meals with those that the spiritual leaders wouldn’t dare find themselves in the company of. I guess at the moment the only examples that come to mind are those where he interacted with people that most wouldn’t. I guess my ultimate question is where is the line drawn where we can live in the freedom we have in Christ verses…
